Chapter 273: [Weekly Bonus Chapter 3/3] Blood Bath (5)

Without warning, Vernian lunged at Adrian. Adrian barely had time to react, raising his arms to block the incoming attack. The force of the blow sent him staggering back, along with a new set of broken bones.

While in his beast form, [Resurgence] worked overtime to heal his wounds. But even that had a limit. Adrian couldn’t keep accumulating wounds, and even the troll blood might give up on him.

’I don’t even want to imagine what would happen after that...’

While Adrian was contemplating how to get away from Vernian, the latter fulfilled his wish and delivered a powerful kick that shattered Adrian’s defences and sent him flying.

Adrian collided with a stone wall. The impact shattered the structure and buried him under a pile of rubble. Dust filled the air, obscuring Adrian from Vernian’s view.

Vernian didn’t wait for the dust to settle. He lunged forward, determined to finish the fight before Adrian could recover, as he realised Adrian must have some regeneration ability that kept nullifying his attacks.

’The Sooner I deal with him, the better ability I can extract from his corpse. I might even manage to get his healing powers for myself... and then not even the Great Entity will be able to stop me.’

With that thought, Vernian aimed another kick at the pile of rubble where Adrian lay buried. But this time, things didn’t go according to his plan.

As Vernian’s leg came down, Adrian’s hand shot out from the rubble, catching Vernian’s leg in mid-air. A moment later, his other hand shot out, delivering a heavy blow straight into Vernian’s chest, launching him several feet away.

Vernian hit the ground and was shocked when he realised a drop of blood had fallen out of his mouth. He was in disbelief that someone other than their father managed to hurt him.

’I have to kill him! He’s too dangerous to be left alive.’

[The rogue entity, ???, nods. The strange user could pose a threat to their plans.]

[The rogue entity, ???, permits their apostle to kill the user called Adrian.]

However, it was easier said than done because Adrian was the same person they were dealing with anymore.

As the dust settled, Adrian emerged from the rubble. But something was different. His skin had turned a deep red, and a blood-red mist swirled around him, pulsating with a strange energy.

Even his eyes looked more menacing than before. It was as if a new power had awakened within him.

[Skill effect: Beast’s Valour has been activated.]

[All of the user’s skills will activate with a reduced efficiency of 30%]

"Cool trick," Vernian scoffed, getting in position. "I’d be sure to get my hands on that technique once I’m done taming you."

"You’re welcome to try," Adrian mumbled, but instead, a mixture of voices emerged from his mouth. "But don’t think for a moment you’ll survive this ordeal."

<Master, you only have five minutes to end this fight.>

’Understood,’ Adrian nodded, remembering the mana cost of using the skill. ’It should be enough to defeat him and make him spill everything he knows about me and Dad.’

"You’re a fool to take your eyes off me!"

Despite being surprised by Adrian’s initial assault, Vernian rushed for another attack. But he underestimated Adrian’s agility and paid the price for it. freewёbnoνel.com

"The same goes for you," Adrian replied. "Announcing your attack."

Adrian ducked before Vernian’s fist could reach him, delivering a thunderous punch to his midsection. Vernian was forced to take a dozen steps backwards before falling to his knees.

"It looks like one punch is enough to bring you to your knees as well," Adrian commented. "By your definition, you’re too weak to be left alive. Isn’t that right?"

Vernian didn’t reply as he stood back up, using one hand to push himself off the ground while the other wiped the blood trickling from his mouth.

[The rogue entity, ???, raises their eyebrow. Surprised by the newcomer’s strength to make their apostle bleed.]

[The rogue entity, ???, sighs and allows their apostle to use the weapon.]

Meanwhile, Adrian was surprised, not because Vernian withstood his attack. He had expected that, but he didn’t think Vernian would remain unaffected by the poisonous mist around him.

’Damned poison resistance-’

<It’s not that Master. The poison affected him.>

Adrian took a look at the point where his punch had landed. Sure enough, there was a black patch of skin there, showing that poison had entered Vernian’s body.

’But then how is he unaffected?’

It was a mystery. Usually, the poison would spread rapidly upon entering the target’s body. However, Vernian remained unaffected, besides the patch where Adrian’s fist had landed.

Adrian’s thoughts veered into a strange possibility. What if Vernian had the ability to control every single cell in his body? As absurd as it seemed, this theory could explain why the poison hadn’t spread beyond the initial point of contact.

If Vernian had somehow managed to kill the skin cells before the toxin could infiltrate the rest of his body, it would make sense why only a tiny patch of skin was affected while the rest remained unscathed.

Obviously, it was all just a theory, but judging by Vernian’s absurd strength, Adrian wasn’t willing to rule out any possibility.

’If that’s the case, then I’ll just have to ensure not a single cell of his body remained unaffected by my poison.’

Adrian sprinted towards Vernian, his eyes locked on him. Vernian, having ripped off the patch of skin Adrian had ruined, wasn’t in a happy mood when he noticed him rushing towards him.

Just when Adrian was about to deliver the punch, Vernian reached into his inventory and pulled out a massive hammer.

"Enough!" Vernian roared.

Vernian brought the hammer down on Adrian’s chest with a mighty swing. The impact was brutal. Adrian felt his ribs crack as he was lifted off his feet and flung backwards by the sheer force of the blow.

His vision blurred, and pain shot through his body as he soared through the air. Adrian landed hard on the ground, the world spinning around him. But even in that state, he recognised the area.

It was the location where the convoy had been attacked by the White Tiger clan and the Ghost Soldiers, which meant everyone was in danger.

Coughing and gasping for air, Adrian struggled to his feet. He needed to get away from there, but Vernian landed on him with the hammer resting on his shoulder.

"As I thought, you’re no match for me," Vernian smirked, raising the hammer over his head. "Rest in peace, brother and tell father I send my regards."
