Chimaera's Conquest: The Legend Of The Devourer-Chapter 246: Old Acquaintances (2)
Chapter 246: Old Acquaintances (2)
Adrian Fenrir... Henrio would never forget that name or the face till his last breath. A sadist bastard like Henrio, who couldn’t keep his hands off anyone he desired, was stopped by someone he considered filth.
That filth was the kind hero, Adrian Fenrir.
When the heroes were new to Nexaria, many nobles tried to win them over and recruit them into their own factions. As such, they were often invited to parties and other events where the nobles showed off to their fullest, hoping to buy their loyalty.
However, not everyone had such pure intentions, and the Richen house was one filthy family. They had no interest in forming bonds with the heroes. Instead, they saw them as tools for their own gain, seeking to enslave them and use their powers for their own nefarious purposes.
Henrio’s father wanted a certain elven hero candidate for himself and almost got away with it—had it not been for Adrian’s keen eyes.
Adrian, at the time, was loyal to the church, immediately alerted the authorities of the deceit, and helped Richen get caught in the act. Not only did he save the elf’s life, but he also destroyed any power the Richens had in the region.
After all, nobles, although each other’s friends, were all snakes that didn’t hesitate to bite each other when the opportunity came. Adrian had handed them one such opportunity on a silver platter, and they didn’t hesitate.
Soon, the house was ousted and ridiculed, and Adrian thought that was that until he saw Henrio with his army of slaves.
"I guess old habits die hard," Adrian smirked, casually walking towards Henrio. "I guess your filthy house was restored to power to fill the void left by the heroes?"
Henrio was too shocked to reply, prompting Adrian to shake his head. "That’s the reason I hate nobles. Fucking pretentious bastards, all of them."
"How did you get in here..." Henrio managed to ask, making Adrian laugh.
"Seriously? That’s your biggest concern?" Adrian replied. "Do you not remember what I told you the last time we met?"
Henrio turned silent once again. How could he ever forget it? After all, he had been repeating those words in his head for years.
"You’ll eradicate the house if you ever found us indulging in slave exploitation again-"
That was all he managed to say before being kicked in the chest by Adrian. Henrio went rolling down in the mud, ruining his expensive suit. However, his demeanour had changed drastically from when Felicia spilt some dirt on him.
Henrio was no longer being the cocky brat he was. Angering someone who took on the church of Aria wasn’t something he could afford to do. However, he could try and buy his way out of trouble.
"Wait a second!" Henrio shrieked, raising his hands in surrender. "I... didn’t know you’d be here. If I did, I wouldn’t dare to cross your path-"
Unfortunately, Adrian wasn’t interested in his barking and slapped Henrio, dislocating his jaw. Unlike humans, even a bratty Nexarian like Henrio had a thicker skin, which meant Adrian didn’t need to hold back.
"You broke your word," Adrian smirked, enjoying every moment of the confrontation. "Now, I shall break your bones as per the terms of our contract."
"Like hell, you will!" Henrio suddenly found his voice and yelled back at Adrian. "The church declared you dead! The contract was fulfilled-"
Smack!
"Oh, looks like you grew some brain cells while your father rotted away in prison," Adrian replied, smacking Henrio again. "But if I had died, then I wouldn’t be here, would I?"
"Th-That-"
"Didn’t think it through, did you?" Adrian rolled his eyes. "Either way, the girl you kidnapped. Where is she?"
"The girl...?"
Smack!
"Don’t waste my time and tell me where she is!"
"R-Right there!" Henrio yelled, pointing at the tents in the distance. "She is in the black tent..."
"See, that wasn’t difficult, was it?" Adrian patted Henrio’s shoulder before heading towards the tents.
Henrio smirked, watching his leave. After all, Adrian was willing to head towards his death, so why wouldn’t he be pleased?
’Not dead, my ass. Once they are done with you, you’ll be begging for death!’
As confident as Henrio was in his abilities to control the slaves, he had bought some outside help to ensure their loyalty. Two geniuses with unparalleled talent in their respective factions.
Adrian approached the large tent, its flaps billowing gently in the evening breeze. Without hesitation, he stepped inside, hoping to find Felicia there.
But before he could take in his surroundings, a powerful force hit him square in the chest. He felt himself lifted off his feet, flying backwards out of the tent. The world spun around him as he crashed into a tree with a bone-jarring thud.
"Adrian!" Sophia yelled, rushing towards him, but he raised his hand, stopping her.
"No need to get involved here," he said, getting up as he shook the dust off. "Focus on dealing with the beastmen."
Saying so, Adrian looked up just in time to see two figures emerging from the tent. The first was a man he had known for a while and believed to have died along with the rest of the Ravens... Tim—the man who had killed him in Nexaria.
But beside him stood a towering man Adrian had never seen before. At seven feet tall, his muscles bulged beneath his loose-fitting clothes. frёewebηovel.cѳm
However, the tattoo on his face and the turban he wore gave away his identity as a member of the Wrymclaw tribe, a nomadic group of beast tamers and hunters living on the fringes of Nexaria.
’No wonder Henrio had so many slaves. The nomad must have helped him tame them,’ Adrian thought as he got back to his feet.
"Didn’t expect to see me here, did you?" Tim snarled, clenching his fist. "You bastard... you killed everyone in the guild-"
"Stop acting all righteous and shit," Adrian cut him off, equipping the armour and Hydra’s Fang. "It doesn’t suit hired guns like yourself. But I’m thankful you’re alive... at least now I’ll get the pleasure of slicing your neck with my hands."
