Chapter 228: Darkness Dungeon (2)

Adrian cautiously stepped into the dark room, his senses on high alert. He had expected to encounter the dungeon’s boss monster in there. But what he found instead left him stunned.

As he entered one of the rooms, the lights flickered to life, revealing rows upon rows of cryotubes lining the walls. Inside each tube lay a soldier, deep in slumber.

But that wasn’t the thing that surprised him. The uniforms those soldiers wore were the same as the ones who attacked the villa last night. It was enough evidence to link Hera to the incident.

Although it wouldn’t accomplish anything, it would leave an impression on the entities. After all, not everyone would pursue a matter like that just for the sake of it. Adrian could benefit from it later on.

However, he was about to find something even more disturbing.

’What the hell...’

Adrian proceeded to the next room, where an even more chilling sight awaited him. Hundreds, if not more, of people were strapped to bizarre-looking chairs. Their heads were encased in strange machines that Adrian couldn’t figure out the head or the tail of.

However, he knew one thing for sure: Those devices were being used to manipulate and control hunters’ minds and turn them into Hera’s mindless followers. Disgust filled Adrian when he realised the depth of Hera’s scheme.

’And here I thought my opinion of her couldn’t get any lower... fuck, at least now I won’t feel regret for doing what I’m here to do.’

Earlier, he had questioned his decision to kill the guards and the scientists, but after seeing what he had, Adrian wondered if he had gone too easy on them.

[The higher entity, The Monkey Sage with a Golden Headband, looks at the scene before the User and wonders what the User would do next.]

[The higher entity, The Blind Ruler of Justice, urges the User to end their misery and promises bountiful rewards in return.]

[The higher entity, Thundering Pervert With a Pet Eagle, instructs the User to make a wise decision, for his actions could lead to grave consequences.]

It was rare for Adrian to have the eyes of so many higher entities on him. Although it could be rewarding, one misstep could lead to disastrous outcomes, as Zeus warned him.

’While the entities might not have much influence on Earth, the admins do. And since the admins are in the entities’ pockets, there’s no telling what they might do if I push them to the limits.’

The situation was tense, but he soon figured out how to escape the troublesome situation. What if he didn’t do anything to Maria or her guild? No one would be able to hold him accountable for something like that, not even the almighty entities.

He might not have the moral compass to judge Hera and her followers after killing so many people on his way there. But he knew people who did and reached for his DRA-provided phone, the only device that functioned within the dungeon’s confines.

Without taking any time, he began capturing every detail of the disturbing scene before him. He knew the evidence would be crucial in exposing the extent of Maria’s guild’s corruption to the world.

’What will you do if I turn the entire planet against you? Just targeting me wouldn’t be fair, then. Even your bought-out admins won’t be able to do shit without enraging the rest of the entities.’

Just as he was about to get done, a secret door opened behind him, and countless armoured guards rushed inside with their weapons blaring. They must have been informed about Adrian’s [Blood Mist] skill, as they were covered from the head to the toe.

’They learn quickly...’ Adrian thought, using the [Mimic] skill to turn invisible as there wasn’t enough time to hide.

[The higher entity, Thundering Pervert With a Pet Eagle, is enraged by the actions of a particular entity belonging to his pantheon and yells curses.]

[The higher entity, The Blind Ruler of Justice, ignores the ruler and watches on, waiting for the User to make their decision.]

[Countless entities are on the edge of their seats, excitedly watching the brewing conflict within a specific pantheon.]

’Quest or no quest, I had already decided to destroy this place,’ Adrian shrugged. ’Getting the quest is merely a bonus for me.’

[The higher entity, The Blind Ruler of Justice, smiles, believing the User has made the correct choice.]

[The higher entity, Thundering Pervert With a Pet Eagle, curses loudly and warns the User, You’ll pay dearly for this heresy! Not even every entity’s incarnation could save you from my wrath now!]

[Entities belonging to a certain pantheon have left the channel.]

[Few entities have rebelled and decided to stay behind.]

’The guy has trouble uniting his own pantheon but shamelessly blames me for doing the right thing. I guess that’s to be expected from someone who literally impregnates anything with a hole.’

[Skill: Mimic has been deactivated.]

Since the blood mist would not work on the enemies, Adrian had no choice but to get his hands dirty. Retrieving his sword, he jumped straight towards the horde of guards standing between him and the dungeon’s destruction.
