BTTH: Starting from Capturing the Goddess-Chapter 99 - 103: The Gentle Die
Chapter 99 - 103: The Gentle Die
Because Die had only just emerged from her secluded training in the temple last night,
everything had happened too quickly.
As a result, no guards had yet been assigned outside her quarters.
Chen Mo easily opened the door to Die's room, slipped inside, and quietly shut it behind him.
Die was seated at her dressing table, fixing her makeup, wanting to present her most beautiful self when she went to find Chen Mo.
When she heard the door open, she turned toward the sound, and upon seeing that it was Chen Mo, her heart immediately fluttered with excitement.
"Chen Mo, what are you doing here?"
Her voice was sweet and melodious, without the cold nobility of Queen Medusa's.
It was a tone Chen Mo found extremely pleasant.
"Baby, I missed you so much... I couldn't help it."
As Die stood to greet him, Chen Mo quickly said, "Don't move."
Her heart skipped a beat at the word "baby," and when he asked her to stay still, she obediently sat back down, letting him approach.
With concern in her eyes, Die said, "Are you okay? My sister's really not a bad person... I just accidentally made her mad last night. That's why she hit you."
She turned slightly, shyly reaching out to gently touch Chen Mo's face.
Her sister had gone for his face, after all.
Die's delicate hand was small and soft, and as it touched Chen Mo's cheek, a cool, silky sensation instantly spread across his skin.
Chen Mo caught her hand and pressed it firmly against his cheek.
"Now that you're touching me like this... even if it hurt, it doesn't anymore."
Die's cheeks turned a faint red, but she didn't pull her hand away. Instead, she murmured shyly, "You're so bad."
"Come here. Sit properly—I'm going to style your hair."
Chen Mo helped her sit upright.
Die looked puzzled.
He could... style hair?
What followed completely stunned her.
Chen Mo's hands moved with surprising skill, the comb in his grip spinning and twisting in a variety of intricate motions.
In no time at all, a hairstyle Die had never seen before appeared in the mirror.
It was refined and elegant. The gathered hair looped upward into a style that looked like the poised wings of a startled bird ready to take flight.
Die gasped in delight.
"It's so pretty!"

"It's called the Startled Swan Bun. Do you like it?" Chen Mo smiled.
"I love it... But how are you so good at this?" Die asked, looking at him suspiciously.
"Ah, well..."
Chen Mo couldn't exactly say he practiced on her sister's hair, so he improvised:
"Maybe I've got some hidden talent. I saw this style once in a book, and I figured I'd give it a try. Looks pretty good, huh?"
Die believed him.
Chen Mo, feeling a little guilty, quickly retrieved a jade necklace he had bought for her from his storage ring. Hiding it behind his back, he said,
"Close your eyes, baby. I've got a surprise for you."
Die obediently closed her eyes.
A moment later, she felt the cool touch of a necklace encircle her slender neck. The heavier part of it settled right into the soft curve of her chest.
"All done. You can open your eyes now," Chen Mo said.
Die slowly opened her eyes, her gaze clear and bright. Through the bronze mirror, Chen Mo could see his reflection in her eyes.
Her outfit wasn't too different from Queen Medusa's—only that her short dress was lighter in color. The pale red bust wrap revealed a more modest curve than her sister's, but it was still alluring.
The necklace was cold.
But Die's heart was already melting.
She loved the gem-studded necklace.
Even though the jade wasn't nearly as rare as her sister's magical core necklace, because Chen Mo had given it to her—
To Die, it was more precious than anything.

Especially when she noticed, through the mirror, that Chen Mo still wore the matching lover's pendant she had given him.

"Thank you... I really like it. It's even prettier than my sister's," Die said with a blissful smile.
"Uh... is that so?" Chen Mo broke into a slight sweat.
"Of course. Because you gave it to me," Die replied, turning toward him.
As she raised her delicate lips, Chen Mo's heart began to stir again.
Die's lips weren't as vividly red as Queen Medusa's—hers were soft and pink, like peach blossom petals, with only the corners touched with color.
They had their own unique charm.
Chen Mo lifted her chin and kissed her.
"Mmph..."
Die's body tensed for a moment, her snowy-white skin flushing red. But soon, she began to respond.
Since Chen Mo was standing and she was sitting, Die rose to her feet, wrapping one arm around his neck while the other awkwardly held his head.
But her kissing skills were clearly lacking.
She couldn't compare to the Queen.
Still, Chen Mo believed—with a bit of proper guidance—she'd do just fine.
If Queen Medusa was a thorny rose...
Then Die was like a freshly made strawberry cake.
One bite, and sweetness filled your mouth.
A habit formed during his time with the Queen began to show itself—
As they kissed, Chen Mo's hands began to wander.
Until—
"Ow!"
Die bit him.
She pushed him away, her face flushed scarlet. Pouting, she said, "You're such a tease!"
Her cute expression only made Chen Mo lean in and peck her lips again.
"You're asking for it!"
Die gave his chest a light smack, and he responded by pulling her into his arms. The two held each other tightly, as if wanting to melt into one another.
A few minutes passed.
Then Chen Mo suddenly remembered something important.
"Baby, I've got another gift for you."
He took out the vial containing the blood essence of the Ancient Undying Dragon Snake and handed it to her.
Die uncorked it, glanced inside, then quickly sealed it again.
Her expression mirrored the one Queen Medusa had when she first saw it.
"What is this?" Die asked.
Chen Mo repeated what the system had explained.
Though Die didn't quite understand the whole "descendant of Nuwa" business, she didn't overthink it and simply accepted the gift.
"Thanks!"
"So... how are you going to thank me?"
Chen Mo looked at her with a playful glint, sounding like a mischievous uncle.
Die's cheeks reddened once again. Then she leaned forward and kissed him.
"That's it?" Chen Mo said, disappointed.
"W-What do you want, then?"
Chen Mo's gaze drifted downward.
"No way!"
Die immediately crossed her arms over her chest.
"Sigh... fine."
Chen Mo let out an exaggerated sigh of disappointment.
Die furrowed her brows, biting her lip. After a moment of hesitation, she blushed even more and whispered,
"Okay... but you have to promise—don't go too far."
Chen Mo quickly agreed.
"Then... you can."
She closed her eyes, presenting herself in a way that looked like she was ready to be taken.
Chen Mo's breath quickened ever so slightly.
Just as he was about to make a move—
His Heavenly Sword Body trembled slightly.
It was a signal from Mo Yan.
Chen Mo's expression instantly changed. He quickly pulled away from Die, sat properly to one side, and said,
"Your sister—the Queen—is here!"
