Chapter 205: Chapter 205: Lancaster Family’s Visit

She meant it.

She really didn’t want Spencer liking anyone else.

"Calm down, Aurora! Calm down! The matter hasn’t worsened yet! Just pretend nothing has happened.

And even if you do like him a little...he is your canary now...you have the full rights to do whatever you want with him!" She encouraged herself. freēwēbnovel.com

Yup. Aurora didn’t feel there was anything wrong or twisted in her logic.

After a few minutes, she stepped back into the room, wiping her hands on a small towel. Spencer was standing by the window, hands in his pockets.

"Let’s go." She ordered.

Spencer turned to face her and nodded.

Just like before, he scooped her in his arms and started to walk toward the living room.

Once in the living room, the sound of arguments attracted Aurora’s attention.

No...it was more like one-sided scolding.

Olivia stood in the middle of the living room, arms crossed, glaring at Rose with fire in her eyes.

"If you still have a shred of shame left, you’ll leave. Right now," Olivia snapped.

Rose, who stood beside her parents, narrowed her eyes and crossed her own arms in defiance.

"I’m not going anywhere. I came to apologize," she said, voice sharp with attitude.

"That didn’t sound like an apology to me," Olivia scoffed.

Mrs. Lancaster, ever composed, stepped forward with a soft smile on her lips and a calm tone in her voice.

"Olivia, dear, we know there were... unpleasant things in the past, but do we really need to hold onto all that resentment?" she said sweetly. "We’re here now, hoping to make peace."

Aurora, who had just arrived in Spencer’s arms, froze as she took in the scene. Her eyes immediately landed on Mrs. Lancaster, and though her tone was polite, Aurora could easily see through the woman’s act. That wasn’t an apology. It was just sugarcoated manipulation.

Spencer gently set Aurora down on the couch, and she gave his hand a small squeeze of thanks before focusing completely on what was happening.

Olivia’s face twisted. "Unpleasant things? That’s what you’re calling it?"

Mrs. Lancaster tilted her head with an apologetic sigh, though her eyes were anything but sorry.

"Yes, dear. Children fight. Harsh words are said in the heat of the moment. I deeply regret the things that might’ve hurt you, though I’m sure you also said some things you didn’t mean back then."

Aurora raised a brow.

"Might’ve hurt"? "Also said"? Mrs. Lancaster was shifting the blame without actually taking any.

Rose stood beside her mother with a smug look, clearly knowing what her mother was doing.

Olivia let out a sharp laugh.

"You regret what might have hurt me? That’s what you call setting your daughter’s little minions on me and then trying to extort my dad for a hundred grand?"

At that, Mr. Lancaster’s expression flickered, but he remained quiet, letting his wife handle it.

Mrs. Lancaster’s eyes glistened with mock sadness.

"Olivia, I’m not here to argue. We simply want to move on. It’s been four years. Isn’t it time to forgive and forget?"

"I’m not some fool who forgets just because time passed," Olivia snapped.

"You humiliated me. You insulted my family. And Rose? She’s still the same spoiled brat she was four years ago."

"You’re being very aggressive right now," Mrs. Lancaster said, her voice softening even more.

"I’m afraid this is exactly why it’s been difficult to approach you. We came in peace, and you respond like this..."

Aurora scoffed under her breath.

She wasn’t surprised. Mrs. Lancaster was playing her usual game—twist the truth, manipulate emotions, and play the victim in front of an audience.

But the question was...why were they here?

Just because she had kicked their store out of the mall? That seemed a bit impossible...

They must have some bigger motive.

However...

If they have a motive, they should act humbly, not like they do now.

Manipulating words and acting as if they were doing a favor by apologizing.

Does Mrs. Lancaster think only she can twist the words?

Heh! So wrong!

"Yup, we will respond like this. If you feel unfair or unjust. Just like." Aurora said with a smile.

Mrs. Lancaster’s eyes flickered the moment she noticed Aurora sitting comfortably on the couch, a knowing smile tugging at her lips.

With a quick motion, she nudged Rose subtly before turning fully toward Aurora, her expression melting into one of gentle concern.

"Oh, Aurora, dear," Mrs. Lancaster said with a soft smile.

"I hope my words earlier didn’t offend you. That truly wasn’t my intention. It’s just... emotions sometimes get the better of us all, don’t they?"

Her tone was so sweet and polished that it would’ve fooled anyone who didn’t know better.

Aurora gave her a cool smile, not even blinking.

"Then let’s not waste time, Mrs. Lancaster. What exactly brought you here today?"

Mrs. Lancaster chuckled lightly, brushing invisible dust from her sleeve. "Of course, of course," she said smoothly.

"We’re here because Rose felt terribly guilty after what happened at the mall. You see, she insisted on coming today to properly apologize for her behavior. Isn’t that right, Rose?"

Rose’s mouth twitched as if the words "I’m sorry" tasted bitter. "...Right," she muttered, avoiding Aurora’s eyes.

Olivia’s head turned sharply, eyebrows rising in disbelief. "Wait. Mall? What mall?"

Before anyone could answer, Mrs. Lancaster gave an overly dramatic gasp.

"Oh, Olivia, didn’t you know? Aurora owns the mall now. Her godmother gifted it to her."

Olivia blinked, stunned. She looked at Aurora, then back at Mrs. Lancaster, but didn’t say a word.

She wouldn’t give Rose the satisfaction of seeing her surprised.

Aurora, on the other hand, was already smiling—because she knew exactly what game Mrs. Lancaster was playing.

Sure enough, the next words out of Mrs. Lancaster’s mouth confirmed it.

"It’s really wonderful," she said with a sigh. "Aurora’s godmother must be incredibly generous. Just one call, and she hands over a whole mall. That kind of affection is rare. Isn’t that right, Olivia?" She turned, her expression perfectly innocent. "Has Emily ever gifted you something like that?"

Aurora’s smile didn’t change, but her fingers curled into a loose fist.

There it was. A soft, harmless question. So gentle, so polite—yet perfectly aimed to spark jealousy.

A clever attempt to plant a seed of doubt between Aurora and Olivia.

Olivia’s face darkened just slightly, but she caught on quickly. Instead of answering, she tilted her head.

"Mrs. Lancaster," she said, voice casual but sharp, "do you have a niece?"

The question caught the older woman off guard. "Why... yes," she answered slowly, blinking. "Of course I do."

Olivia gave her a sweet smile. "Have you ever gifted her a mall?"

Mrs. Lancaster laughed lightly, a little confused. "Well, no, but—"

"Exactly," Olivia cut in smoothly.

"If a rich woman like you—married to a successful businessman—has never gifted her own niece a mall, then why would you expect Aurora’s godmother to give something like that to all of us Waters siblings?"

Mrs. Lancaster froze.

"We’re five siblings, Mrs. Lancaster," Olivia continued, tone still polite but laced with quiet fire. "If Emily handed each of us something like that, she’d be broke in a week."

She folded her arms.

"And let’s not forget—Emily is Aurora’s godmother. Not mine. Not Adam’s. Not Ivy’s. She doesn’t owe us anything."

Mrs. Lancaster’s expression tightened for just a second, the smile faltering before she quickly recovered.

Aurora sat back with a satisfied look.

What Olivia had done was brilliant—using Mrs. Lancaster’s own logic against her.

And even better, she’d made it clear that she wouldn’t be so easily turned against Aurora.

Mrs. Lancaster’s subtle attempt to drive a wedge between them had failed.

"By the way, Mrs. Lancaster, I don’t forgive your daughter. So please leave." Aurora said softly.

She wanted to trigger Mrs. Lancaster to show her true purpose.

But Mrs. Lancaster was much more experienced; she smiled and said,

"We still have Mr. Adam to apologize to."

"With the way you are apologizing, I think my dad won’t be interested," Aurora said with a light chuckle.

Mrs. Lancaster’s smile twitched ever so slightly at Aurora’s words.

For a moment, her polished mask cracked—but only just. She turned to her husband, clearly expecting him to step in and smooth things over.

But Mr. Lancaster simply adjusted his cufflinks and stayed quiet.

So she had to keep playing the part herself.

"Well then," she said with a little laugh, "perhaps we’ll come back another day. We wouldn’t want to intrude any further."

She turned to Rose. "Come along, dear."

But Rose didn’t move.

Instead, she looked straight at Aurora, her jaw tight.

Mrs. Lancaster paused, a glint flashed in her eyes, before she smiled and said,

"Ah! I forgot to tell you. Rose is going to hold her birthday celebration this month. You are all invited. The party is at Diamond Plaza."

Rose instantly looked at Mrs. Lancaster with disbelief in her eyes.

As if asking her mother what she was doing.
