Chapter 197: Chapter 197: Jonnah

Adam Price’s face turned stone cold. His sharp eyes bore into Eleanor as he stepped away from her, brushing imaginary dust off his shoulder.

"What exactly are you trying to do?" he asked, voice low and biting.

Eleanor, red-faced and flustered, pointed at the ceiling in a last-ditch effort to defend herself. "T-The chandelier! It was about to fall! I was trying to save you!"

Adam raised an eyebrow and looked up. The chandelier was very clearly retracting into the ceiling with a smooth mechanical hum, not falling. It was obvious to everyone in the room.

"Any normal person would know it’s going up, not down," he said flatly.

The room fell into an awkward silence for a moment.

Then someone near the refreshments snickered. "Isn’t she the one who screeched into the mic earlier?"

"And farted near the drinks table?" another guest added loudly.

Laughter erupted, echoing through the grand hall. Eleanor’s face turned a deep shade of crimson. She opened her mouth to protest, but the damage was done.

"She was probably just trying to seduce Adam Price," someone whispered not-so-quietly.

"She wants attention. Did you see the way she dropped her bag on purpose?"

"She’s embarrassing herself," another guest said with a shake of the head.

Suddenly, a soft voice cut through the chatter. "Should we call Luna to handle this? She has a gentle heart."

At the mention of Luna’s name, a few heads nodded. "Yes, let Luna talk to her. She’s the bride-to-be, after all."

Eleanor’s heart sank.

"No, no, no, not her," she muttered under her breath. Panic crept into her voice as she spoke to her system mentally.

"Use charm. I need to wriggle out of this. I’m activating Charm Skill!"

[Confirming deduction of 40,000 points for emergency charm use. Proceed?]

"Yes!" she hissed desperately.

Just as Luna was stepping forward, guided gently by one of her aides, she tripped on the edge of the carpet. A small gasp rippled through the crowd as she stumbled forward.

Everyone’s attention immediately shifted.

"Luna!"

"Be careful!"

Adam Price, his face shifting from cold to alarmed, rushed over and caught her before she hit the ground. He cradled her carefully in his arms and looked down at her with gentle concern.

"I’m so sorry," he said softly. "I should have been more attentive."

Luna gave him a faint, forced smile. "It’s all right. I just need to rest for a bit."

Guests around them began murmuring.

"He’s such a good fiancé."

"He really loves her."

"A lucky girl, having a husband like that."

Luna didn’t respond. Her smile didn’t quite reach her eyes.

Adam set her down on a cushioned seat, brushing her hair back with quiet care.

Meanwhile, Eleanor had already slinked out through a side door, using the commotion as cover. She wiped a tear away, humiliated and furious.

Back near the tall window, Aurora had been watching everything closely.

Now that the drama had passed, she could finally take a better look at Adam Price.

Her eyes narrowed.

That face. That smug expression.

She knew it.

He was the troublemaker who had once tried to hurt her father.

She had asked Emily to look into the matter, since she was busy, and Emily had told her that, due to some unknown reason, she couldn’t track Adam Price anymore.

Now, she understood why Emily couldn’t trace Adam Price’s whereabouts.

The fucker had somehow become son-in-law of a metal company’s tycoon.

How?

Aurora didn’t know.

But if Adam Price is protected by Nathan, then taking revenge on him would become a bit difficult.

Aurora contemplated for a while before coming up with a plan.

As long as Adam Price has a fallout with Nathan or Luna, it will become easier to take revenge. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

For that though...she needs to know what had Adam Price done to make Luna fall in love with him.

In a swift motion, she took out her phone and messaged Emily.

Adam led Luna away, while the crowd continued to gasp. Aurora followed Adam and soon reached the entrance of the top floor.

She was stopped by the two bodyguards guarding the floor.

"You can’t enter here." The bodyguard with an expressionless face said in a cold tone.

Aurora frowned but didn’t push her luck.

At the party, Aurora was distracted and hardly paid any attention to her surroundings. That was until a masculine voice entered her ears,

"If it isn’t the mysterious Miss Dawn. I see that you are sitting all alone. Do you need my company?"

Aurora snapped back to reality and looked at the newcomer. He was a handsome young man wearing a white tuxedo, his hair was blonde, and his eyes were deep black, in which innocence was sparkling.

"No need." Averting her gaze, Aurora calmly stated and focused on Nathan, who was descending the stairs.

"Please don’t be so quick to dismiss me, Miss Dawn. I may be of help if you give me a chance." The newcomer said again in a polite voice.

Aurora was irritated; however, the moment she saw the delicate face, which was now filled with nervousness, she realized that there was more to the young man standing in front of her.

Sure enough, the young man turned and glanced back.

Aurora followed his line of sight and found a middle-aged man with a pot belly.

Her eyes narrowed as she stared at the middle-aged man with the pot belly.

Something about the way the man was watching Jonnah with a calculating gaze made her uneasy. Who was he?

Before she could sort out her thoughts, the young man in the white tuxedo turned back to her and gave a small bow.

"Oh, sorry that I didn’t introduce myself. I’m Jonnah," he said with a polite smile. "Do you mind if I sit here?"

Aurora’s expression changed instantly.

Jonnah?

That name hit her like a slap.

Her heart skipped a beat as her mind flooded with memories of a dream.

Jonnah... he would become one of the brightest rising stars in the industry. Everyone would love him—until the truth came out.

He was going to be the only friend her second brother, Theodore, would have in the messy entertainment world.

He would help Theodore trap Eleanor, leading to his downfall.

Eleanor’s uncle, Owen—the man now managing Jonnah—would eventually discover how his niece had been set up.

Furious, Owen would expose all of Jonnah’s secrets to the public.

Scandals. Blackmail. Lies.

Owen would lose his job for it, but Jonnah’s reputation would be shredded.

Still, somehow, Jonnah would claw his way back—just in time to learn that Theodore had died.

Grief would turn to rage.

Jonnah would seek revenge on Owen, hunting him down and using everything he had left to ruin the older man’s life.

Owen would be unable to find a job. Desperate and broken.

But then, with the help of Eleanor’s husband, Owen would build a new empire, bigger and stronger than before.

And with that power, he would crush Jonnah’s second comeback attempt and even get him thrown behind bars.

Aurora blinked, her thoughts snapping back to the present.

Jonnah stood there, still waiting, clearly growing nervous from her silence.

His fake smile faltered slightly, and she could see a flicker of insecurity behind his carefully put-together mask.

"Miss Dawn...?" he asked again, his voice softer this time.

Aurora didn’t answer right away.

Jonnah forced the fake smile back onto his face and looked away awkwardly, eyes flicking toward the pot-bellied man again.

The way the man gave him a slight nod—like a handler checking in on his pawn—made his stomach turn.

Inside, Jonnah was screaming.

’Why won’t she say anything? Did I mess up already?’

He looked back at her, trying to appear confident.

He had been to various parties and had already tried to win over some of the millionaires in the hopes of finding a sugar mommy.

Though he despised such behavior, the cruel reality had hit him hard on the face. Even after staying in the industry for more than 15 years, he hardly got any lead roles.

The main reason was that he didn’t agree to the unspoken rules. Many directors wanted to sleep with him just to give him the lead roles.

There were times when he passed the auditions only to be replaced by those with connections at the last moment.

It was frustrating and unacceptable, but every time he protested, he would be slapped with the words "blame yourself for not accepting the industry rule" or "blame yourself for not having connections".

He might have never given in to these rules if he hadn’t seen how his hard-earned role was given to some nepo kid, and they became famous from it.

The same things happened repeatedly, and just recently, one of the newcomers stole his role and became a nationwide crush.

"You can sit." A slightly cold voice sounded, pulling him out of his daze.

"W-What?" For a moment, Jonnah felt as if he might be hearing things.
