Chapter 167: Chapter 167: Rescue

Adeline’s eyes widened in pure horror. Her heart raced like a wild drum in her chest. She couldn’t believe what she just heard.

Henry saw her face and chuckled darkly.

"You heard me right," he said, slowly walking back to his bed. "Now, be a good girl and get me that ten thousand dollars you’ve been saving."

Adeline didn’t move. She didn’t speak. She just sat there, frozen, like a statue. Her mouth felt dry, and her hands were trembling.

Henry narrowed his eyes.

"I’m not going to ask again," he said, lifting his hand once more, ready to slap her.

But just then—

BANG!

The door burst open with a loud crack.

Uniformed cops stormed into the room, and one of them shouted, "Hands in the air! Now!"

Henry blinked, shocked.

"What the—?!"

Before he could react, two strong officers grabbed him by the arms and twisted them behind his back. He struggled, yelling curses, but they shoved him to the ground and cuffed him.

"Get off me! I didn’t do anything!"

Lucy jumped up, eyes wide in panic.

"Wait, wait! What’s going on?! He didn’t do anything wrong!"

Another officer quickly grabbed Lucy and pinned her arms. "You’re under arrest for assisting in assault and illegal confinement."

"What? No, I was just—!"

She couldn’t even finish her sentence before they forced her to sit against the wall.

Everyone in the room went still for a moment.

Then, quiet footsteps echoed across the room.

A woman stepped in.

She wasn’t wearing anything flashy. Just a simple jacket and black jeans. A soft black veil covered her face, hiding her features, but her presence was strong—calm and dangerous at the same time.

Her steps were quick and sharp as she walked straight toward Adeline.

When she saw Adeline’s bruised face, something inside her changed.

Her whole body stiffened. Her hands curled into fists. A fire—deep, angry, and wild—lit up behind her eyes.

She turned slowly to face Henry.

Then—

SLAP!

Her palm crashed against his cheek with a sound so loud it echoed in the room.

Henry gasped, his head snapping to the side.

"Wha—?!"

SLAP!

Again.

SLAP!

And again.

Each slap came faster, sharper, harder.

Henry cried out in pain, squirming on the floor, but the cops held him tight. He couldn’t move. Couldn’t run. Couldn’t even raise a hand to stop her.

"You hit her?" the woman said, her voice low but furious. "You dare touch her again, I’ll break every bone in your face."

SLAP!

Henry’s nose started to bleed. His face turned red and swollen.

"Please—stop—" he begged.

But she didn’t listen.

She slapped him again.

And again.

Until her palm turned red and Henry’s face looked like a punching bag.

Adeline stared at her, shocked. Her lips trembled, her eyes wide with confusion and awe.

The woman turned around and walked back to Adeline. She knelt down slowly, her voice soft again.

"I’m here, Adeline," she whispered. "You’re safe now."

Adeline’s eyes filled with tears.

"Miss Dawn...?" she asked, barely believing it.

The woman nodded once.

"Yes."

Henry’s eyes flew open when he heard the woman say her name.

"Miss Dawn? No... that can’t be," he mumbled, shaking his head like he didn’t believe what he just heard. "You—you’re not her. There’s no way you’re that Miss Dawn."

The woman turned her head slowly toward him, eyes shining like ice under the veil. Her voice was calm but sharp like a blade.

"I don’t need to prove anything to someone like you," she said with a light chuckle.

Then she looked at the cops.

"Take them both," she ordered, pointing at Henry and Lucy. "And make sure they get some special treatment."

The cops nodded right away. "Yes, ma’am!"

Henry started yelling, trying to fight again, but the cops grabbed him harder and pulled him up.

"Wait! No! You can’t do this—" he shouted, but they didn’t listen.

Lucy, still confused and scared, screamed, "I didn’t do anything! It was all him! I was just—"

"Quiet," one cop snapped, cuffing her hands behind her back.

As they were dragged out of the room, Adeline suddenly grabbed Aurora’s arm, her eyes full of desperation.

"Miss Dawn—please... my sister. Nia. She... she’s only seven. Lucy hit her. She fainted. Please, help her..."

Aurora’s body froze. Her smile disappeared like smoke.

"What did you say?" she asked, voice so cold it sent shivers down everyone’s spine.

Adeline’s voice cracked. "Lucy slapped her. She’s just a little girl. I—I couldn’t do anything..."

Aurora slowly turned her head and looked toward the corner of the room.

There, on the floor, lay a small, silent figure—Nia.

She was so tiny, her face pale, a bruise already forming on her cheek. She looked like she was just sleeping, but her chest barely moved.

Adeline let out a weak breath and collapsed too, her body finally giving up. She had stayed strong all this time only for her sister.

Aurora’s hands clenched tightly. Her eyes filled with a quiet, powerful fury.

She clapped once, loud and sharp.

In seconds, a tall man in a black suit entered the room. He looked like someone from an action movie—calm, strong, and serious.

"Take them both," Aurora said, pointing at the two sisters. "Make sure they go to the best hospital in the city. I’ll cover everything. Don’t let anything happen to them."

The man bowed slightly. "Understood."

He gently picked up Nia, then carefully lifted Adeline. Another guard came in and helped him carry them out.

Aurora watched until they disappeared through the doorway.

Then, without a word, she walked out of the building and headed toward a dark, empty alley nearby.

A moment later, the cops arrived again—this time with Henry and Lucy in tow.

Both were still cuffed but struggling hard now.

"What is this?! Where are we?!" Henry yelled.

"Let me go! This is illegal!" Lucy screamed.

Aurora chuckled,

"So you do know that this kind of thing is illegal but still do it?"
