Chapter 152: Chapter 152: Emma

Mandy’s face turned red with anger. She looked like she was about to explode.

"This is blackmail!" she yelled. "You can’t just ask us for money like that!"

Aurora shrugged. "It’s not blackmail. You hurt me. I’m just asking for what I deserve."

Zane looked down, rubbing his neck. "Man... this is bad..."

Caroline’s eyes filled with tears. "Please, Aurora... can we pay less? We’re sorry, okay? I didn’t mean for things to get so bad..."

Aurora’s face didn’t change. "I already gave you a choice. I could’ve posted your confessions online or sent them straight to your parents and the school. But I didn’t. That’s me being kind."

Some kids in the class nodded.

"She’s right."

"They got off easy."

"They’re lucky she’s not suing them!"

Mandy gritted her teeth. "Fine! You want money? You’ll get it. But don’t think this is over."

Aurora raised one eyebrow. "That’s funny. I was about to say the same to you."

Zane looked between the two girls, then whispered, "Can I just pay and leave?"

Aurora gave him a long look. "Pay me by tomorrow. Cash. Or I’ll show your parents the messages."

Zane nodded quickly. "Okay. Okay. I’ll get it."

Caroline just sat down, covering her face. She looked like she was about to cry.

Mandy dragged her to the back of the classroom, whispering angrily.

"This is not over. She’s acting all cool now, but just wait. I’ll find a way to crush her."

Caroline didn’t say anything. She just kept shaking.

Meanwhile, Aurora walked back to her seat next to Mia.

Mia stared at her with big eyes. "You were so cool..."

The day went by uneventfully.

After her warning, Spencer kept a distance, and Aurora felt relief.

Adam had told everyone about becoming the CEO.

Today, he was throwing a party.

Aurora was excited and planned to go to a shopping mall to buy an expensive dress.

Aurora walked into the fancy mall.

Even though she wore plain jeans and a hoodie, a kind-looking saleswoman walked over to her with a smile.

"Welcome, miss. Looking for anything special today?" the saleswoman asked politely.

Aurora smiled back. "Yeah, I have a party soon. I wanna find a pretty dress."

"Right this way," the woman said, leading her toward the new arrivals section.

Aurora started flipping through the hangers, admiring the elegant fabrics and sparkling details.

Suddenly, a snobby voice behind her said, "Are you sure you can even afford anything in here?"

Aurora turned around slowly.

Standing there was a girl with shiny chestnut hair and cold emerald green eyes. Her lips curled into a smug smile—until she got a proper look at Aurora’s face.

Her eyes widened a little, and her smirk faltered.

Before Aurora could say anything, two other girls stepped forward.

One had long black hair and a bored look on her face, and the other had short curls and a bright pink purse.

"Wait... are you Olivia’s sister?" the girl with the curls asked.

Aurora nodded. "Yeah. I’m Aurora."

The two girls, whose names were Natasha and Kira, turned to the chestnut-haired girl.

"Rose, she is Olivia’s sister. Don’t worry."

The guilt in Rose’s eyes was gone, replaced by that same mean look from before.

Turning to the saleswoman, she said loudly,

"Do beggars shop here now too? I thought this was a luxury store."

The saleswoman’s face changed. She looked like she was about to say something, but Aurora beat her to it.

Aurora chuckled softly, shaking her head.

"Oh, that’s a funny question. But I don’t think it counts yet."

Rose frowned. "What do you mean?"

Aurora smiled sweetly and said,

"Well... you haven’t even stepped inside the shop. So we can’t say if beggars shop here or not."

Even the saleswoman couldn’t help but smile a little.

Rose’s face turned even redder as she glared at the saleswoman.

Her voice was sharp and full of pride.

"Do you even know who I am?" she snapped.

Aurora let out a tired sigh and crossed her arms. "Wow, do you seriously not remember saying that last time too? You must really love repeating yourself."

Rose’s eyes shot toward Aurora like lasers. "Shut up!" she barked. "Nobody asked you!"

The saleswoman blinked in surprise but stayed calm.

"Miss, I’m sorry," she said gently, "but this young lady is a customer. I can’t mistreat her just because you asked me to."

Rose gave a short, mean laugh.

"Oh really? Well, maybe you should know who I am then." She raised her chin.

"I own this store. My dad bought it for me last year. So if you don’t kick her out right now, you’re fired."

The saleswoman’s eyes widened in shock. Her mouth opened slightly, but she didn’t move.

Aurora raised an eyebrow. "You bought a store just to be mean to people in it? That’s kinda sad."

The saleswoman looked between them, then slowly straightened her back. She clenched her hands and spoke firmly.

"I don’t care who you are," she said to Rose. "What you’re asking me to do is wrong. This girl has done nothing wrong. She’s polite, and she hasn’t caused any trouble."

Rose’s face twisted in disbelief. "You’re choosing her over me?"

"I’m choosing what’s right," the saleswoman said, her voice stronger now.

"You can call your dad if you want. But I won’t treat someone badly just because you don’t like them."

Natasha and Kira stood off to the side, whispering.

"Yikes... this is awkward," Natasha said under her breath.

"Rose is totally losing it," Kira added.

Rose glared at all of them. "Fine! I’ll handle this myself."

She stomped toward Aurora like she was going to push her—but Aurora didn’t flinch.

She just stared calmly, arms still folded, like she was watching a toddler throw a tantrum.

"Careful," Aurora said quietly. "You lay a hand on me in here, and you’re the one who’s gonna get kicked out."

Rose stopped.

She was breathing hard, her fists clenched, but she didn’t move forward anymore.

The saleswoman stepped in between them. "Miss, I need you to calm down, or you will have to leave."

Rose’s lips trembled with rage.

"You! You, a mere saleswoman dare to go against me?"

Rose pulled out her sparkly pink phone and tapped the screen angrily, holding it up to her ear.

"Daddy?" she said, her voice high and dramatic. "There’s a saleswoman being really disrespectful to me right now. At my store."

She paused and looked at the name tag on the saleswoman’s shirt.

"Her name’s Emma," she added sharply. "Fire her. Right now."

She paused again, listening. Then her lips curled into a smug smile.

"Great. He said she’ll be out of a job in three minutes."

Emma—the saleswoman—stood very still. Her hands were shaking just a little, but her face was calm.

Rose turned toward her slowly.

"Well, Emma," she said, dragging out the name with a sneer, "I might let you keep your job... if you kneel down and lick my shoe."

Gasps echoed through the store.

"Is she serious?" Kira whispered, eyes wide.

"She’s gone nuts," Natasha muttered.

Emma’s eyes went wide. "W-what?"

Rose pointed at her pink high heels. "You heard me. Kneel. Lick it. Maybe then I’ll be nice."

Another saleswoman, who had been standing at the register, rushed over. She had short brown hair and looked worried.

"Emma, please," the second woman whispered. "Just do it. You have two kids. If you lose this job..."

Emma looked down at the floor, her hands clenching into fists. Her lip trembled.

Aurora stepped forward, but Emma raised one hand to stop her.

"I’m okay," she whispered, even though her eyes were shiny with unshed tears.

She turned toward Rose and said, in a quiet voice, "I’m sorry, Miss. I apologize for upsetting you."

Rose rolled her eyes. "I didn’t say apologize. I said kneel."

Emma stood frozen. Her shoulders started shaking.

Rose chuckled.

"Oh, don’t cry. I’ll make it easy for you. Kick that loser—" she jerked her thumb at Aurora "—out of the store, and I’ll let you stay. Simple, right?"

Emma’s lips parted, but no sound came out. Her eyes slowly moved to Aurora—kind, strong Aurora, who had done nothing wrong.

And at that moment, something changed.

Emma wiped her eyes, stood tall, and looked Rose dead in the face.

"No," she said softly but clearly. "I won’t do it."

Rose blinked. "What did you just say?"

Emma’s voice was steadier now.

"I said no. Fire me if you want. But I’m not licking your shoes. And I’m definitely not kicking out a girl who’s done nothing wrong."

"You’ll regret this!" Rose shouted.

Emma smiled through her tears. "Maybe. But at least I’ll still have self-respect."

Aurora stepped beside her. "And you won’t be alone."

"What do you mean?" Rose asked angrily.

"Do you want to join her and do some kind of protest? Let me make this clear to you! Even if you die, I won’t let this saleswoman here again!"
