Chapter 268: Evil (3)

Cassandra had many questions, but she bit her tongue. Seeing that Phillip was no ordinary man, she had to be more careful. She had to make it out of the room to warn the others.

Cassandra didn’t know what Phillip was, but since he wasn’t human, he didn’t belong here.

How had Phillip fooled them for many years?

Did Phillip truly want to create a safe space for humans, or was there a bigger plan they were all yet to see?

Phillip smiled, knowing the emotions behind Cassandra’s look well. "I was amazed when I was first granted this power. I feel like I can do anything I put my mind to. With this power, I can free us from being ruled by vampires. You had the chance to be right there beside me."

"All I wanted was to kill Gabriel and avenge my parents. You are taking that from me by keeping me here," said Cassandra.

Cassandra had to change her plans. She would be set on fire at this rate if she didn’t please Phillip in some way.

Phillip had always claimed her to be his favourite child, so she was counting on that still being true.

"My plans will continue, so your parents will be avenged. As for Gabriel, he will die along with the rest of his kind. You moved too fast and almost ruined our plans. That is part of why you are now here," said Phillip.

"I don’t care about anything else. Just allow me to kill him. I will stay out of the way from your other plans, and I won’t tell the others what I saw," Cassandra promised.

Phillip didn’t believe Cassandra could keep her mouth shut. She was only singing a different tune now because she witnessed he was not a mere man. ƒreewebɳovel.com

Still, Phillip needed everyone for his plans.

Cassandra’s beauty could be used.

"I will consider letting you free of this room, but as I told you, you will need to devote yourself to me. You will follow only me," Phillip presented the offer again.

It pained Cassandra to have to agree to it when Phillip wasn’t some kind of God. He was an evil creature who could be leading them down a dark path.

"I don’t want to sleep with another man again," Cassandra answered.

Phillip grew annoyed with her still thinking he wanted her body. "I have said that is not what I was asking for. I don’t want a woman who spent her time with a vampire, even though I was the one who ordered it. I want your loyalty to be with me."

Phillip wanted to come first to everyone who followed him. His word would be law, and anyone who disobeyed would die.

"I don’t understand. I hung onto every word you said in the past, just like everyone else here. I was already loyal to you, yet there is more you want," Cassandra said, confused.

How much more loyal could they give?

"All of you still follow someone who hasn’t granted us a way to fight this war in years. It is time that the church moved on and followed me instead. I am the hand that constantly gives," Phillip explained.

Phillip would never pull his hand away and always show himself for his followers to bow to him. This was why he was far better.

Cassandra couldn’t believe her ears. Phillip was always harsh on them when they lost sight of their faith, yet he wanted them to forget everything they believed in and follow him. To follow a man who was nothing like them.

If Phillip was some sort of God sent to help him, then Cassandra would have rejoiced and followed him, but everything about Phillip screamed danger. Cassandra wondered if Phillip even knew what he was or was he just claiming to be a God because it sounded good?

’Are the others like this?’ Cassandra wondered, thinking about the other priests.

She didn’t know who to trust now.

"It won’t be easy for you to get everyone to follow you. Have you forgotten what the church has been preaching for years? Everyone adores you, but I do not know if they would only be loyal to you," said Cassandra.

"Look at you trying to point out all of my problems. It is always what I liked about you. When you were younger, any time someone would question my plans, you would run and tell me. It made it quite easy to find who might turn the others against me. That means their deaths are on you," Phillip said with a smile.

Cassandra shook her head. "No. That wasn’t on me. You chose to kill them just for having questions about you. Those questions were needed since there is so much you have hidden from us. What are you? If you’re human, what kind of human are you?"

"The kind that is needed to go up against vampires. Humans will always be weak against vampires unless we gain power like they have. I am the first of my kind, and I am not greedy to keep this power to myself. I will make all of you strong," Phillip promised.

Cassandra wanted to ask where Phillip got the power from, but she knew he wouldn’t tell her and would most likely get angry.

Cassandra looked away from Phillip. "I need some time to think. This is different from everything you have told us. If anyone else were to heal like you did, you would have ordered us to kill them. I still need to be cautious even though it’s you."

"Very well," Phillip agreed, placing his hands behind his back as he walked to the door. "I will inform the others that you will have a break with the water. You shall pray by yourself, and by tomorrow night, you must give me an answer."

"I won’t be kind the second time around," Phillip warned Cassandra. "It won’t be water you face for not following my way. It might not seem that way, but I have been kind to you because I looked to you as my daughter. You must find your way to my side."

Cassandra didn’t respond to Phillip and waited for him to leave, closing the door behind him.

Cassandra didn’t want Phillip to stop the others from coming to her. She wanted them to be here so she could tell them about Phillip’s healing.

"What do I do now?" Cassandra wondered, placing her finger in her mouth to bite at her nails.

The only way out was the door, which was always locked. Unless she got a visitor like Bryce, Cassandra was stumped on how to reach the others.
