Chapter 258: Pay attention (3)

Vivienne felt like she was quickly losing her mind. Just when she could stand at his side again and not argue with him, Darius had to do this. Though she was plotting to kill Darius, it didn’t stop what he did now from leaving a sting.

Vivienne was confident others would laugh at her. Vivienne had been one to laugh at other women in this position before her marriage to Darius, and now, she needed to be silent.

"If you love me as much as you claim, then you will send her out of the palace now. It isn’t much that I am asking for. Do not make me have to beg while she sits there with that grin on her face," said Vivienne.

Darius looked back at Natalie and didn’t find the grin Vivienne spoke of. Vivienne was the one riling herself up when Natalie only wanted to get along.

Seeing Vivienne being so emotional started to annoy Darius.

"I do love you, but I will not send a woman carrying my child out of the palace. No one will ever replace you as my queen, and our future son will sit as king. For now, this child will be useful to us. They shall be a brother or sister to our daughter. Calm yourself," Darius advised Vivienne.

Vivienne was only making a fool of herself when she acted out like this before the palace servants.

Vivienne was well aware he had other women, so why did she need to get so angry all the time?

"If you had been focused on your duties and allowed me to visit your bed, then you would have been the one bringing me good news. In time, we will have another child. I will make sure of it, but right now, we must celebrate Natalie," Darius said, offering his hand to Natalie to help her stand.

Vivienne wanted to kill the pair now that they stood before her. What about this was acceptable?

Darius was crazier than Vivienne thought for him to suggest she celebrate Natalie sleeping with her husband.

"You want me to ignore that you have been sleeping with my friend and celebrate the child those nights created? You have put me through a lot, and yet, it never ends, even when I give you a second chance. You don’t know how to love, Darius. If you did, you wouldn’t embarrass me," Vivienne said.

Vivienne wanted to walk out of the palace right away, but she couldn’t make Natalie think she was the woman to finally send her out of the palace. No, Vivienne was going to stay and see her plan to the end.

The child Natalie was carrying wouldn’t make it far enough to be considered a royal. Vivienne would be kind enough to have the child rest with its trifling mother.

Natalie held onto Darius’s arm. It was fun for her to see Vivienne be left alone with no one to speak up for her.

Natalie wished to tell Vivienne that if she had paid attention to her marriage more, then she would have noticed who her husband spent his time with. She thought of putting on an act of apologising to Vivienne but didn’t want to.

Natalie wasn’t sorry for what she did and she wouldn’t apologise to Vivienne’s face even if it was a joke.

"I do love you," Darius said, annoyed they were going through this again. "We need to speak in private."

"I am not going anywhere with you. What is the point of speaking in private when the servants now know what you did? Everything gets out at some point, so speak here. I’m afraid I won’t be able to control myself if I am alone with you," said Vivienne.

"Well, there’s nothing more for me to say. As queen, you will watch over Natalie and Juliana, but you will not harm Natalie. If I hear that you have harmed my child, I will forget you are my wife and punish you. Don’t make me have to go so far," Darius said, hoping this would snap Vivienne out of her anger.

Vivienne smiled. Her anger was still present, but she wouldn’t let it show anymore.

"I will not be watching over Natalie or any other women you will bring to the palace. You should have taken my warning seriously. It will be announced by the end of the day that I am taking three men at my side to give me a child-"

"Vivienne," Darius said in a warning tone.

"You always forget that I am also a royal, just like you. Since you can have others at your side, I will do the same. You will know what it is like to be embarrassed, Darius. I will make sure it happens," Vivienne promised.

Darius grabbed Vivienne’s arm. This he would not stand for. "I won’t allow it."

"You never needed my permission to sleep with all these women, so I don’t need you to allow it. Natalie," Vivienne said, facing her former friend. "Your uncle has yet to settle with someone. I remember being a wonderful man."

Natalie frowned. Her father and uncle never got along, so for Vivienne to invite him to the palace would create a lot of tension when she didn’t need it.

"He is too old for you. It sounds like you are acting based on your emotions now. It would be best for us to part so you can think about this and calm yourself," Natalie suggested.

Darius nodded his head, agreeing with Natalie. Vivienne was the only one here who wasn’t being sensible. "You may retire to your room, and I will instruct the maids not to let anyone disturb you. You only need time to yourself to get used to this."

Vivienne’s smile widened after hearing Darius suggest she needed time to think. It was just like him to not believe she was serious. It was partially her fault since she never acted upon her threats.

This time, Vivienne was determined to do everything she said she would since Darius never considered how he would make her look to their peers.

"You should enjoy your time with Natalie and not be concerned about what I will do with my time. I shall tell the court of my wishes so they may create a list of men they think will be best suited for me. Excuse me," Vivienne said, starting to walk around the pair.

Unfortunately, Vivienne wasn’t able to leave since Darius would not release her.

"You will not be going to the court," said Darius. He wouldn’t allow Vivienne to have other men at her side, and she knew it.

Darius was well aware that Vivienne only mentioned this to upset him, and while it was working, Darius wasn’t going to send Natalie out of the palace.

Vivienne pried Darius’s hand off of her arm and stepped away from him so she wouldn’t be grabbed again. "I will do as I want just as you have been doing. At this rate, I am leaning toward voting for someone else to be king."

"Now that the others are turning against you, you should have realised how much you need my family and our votes. You have lost mine. That bastard you carry won’t be raised in the palace," Vivienne informed Natalie. "He’ll be a bastard of whatever noble title they pass to Darius."
