"Princess, like many others you misunderstand my plans with Xavier. I might have thought we would be good together as a married couple but I knew for a long time that wasn’t what Xavier wanted. We used each other for fun," Vivienne said, smiling once more.

She had let Morgana get the best of her but never again. Vivienne wouldn’t be laughed at by a woman who couldn’t get Xavier to notice her.

"Since Xavier is far out of your reach now he is married, who have you decided to give your time to? Darius," Vivienne looked at her husband. "You must help your sister pick a good man. Isn’t it about time she is with someone instead of chasing after a married man?"

"Surely you know from experience that marriage means nothing for our kind. It is simply a little promise we make to be at someone’s side for a lifetime. I can go after Xavier as much as I like but I am certain you would like if I don’t," said Morgana.

Vivienne regretted coming here. As old as the princess was, Morgana had a special way of acting like a child and Vivienne wasn’t in the mood for it. She needed to find out who would be the next woman to join Juliana at Darius’s side.

"I don’t know what you speak of. I have come here to speak with your brother alone so if you don’t mind, it is time you leave," Vivienne said, ignoring Morgana’s accusation.

Morgana sat down, showing that she wasn’t ready to leave. "I am not going anywhere. Where is my precious niece? I do not see her at your side ever. Do you not love her?"

"I love my daughter more than anything in this world-"

"Yet you are never at her side as a maid raises her. You do know a woman can take the throne right? If only her mother would show her a little bit more attention but then again, I have always heard your mother never had time for you. Should I care for your daughter?" Morgana asked Darius.

"You are not going anywhere near my daughter. She is in good hands and I will raise her to be a very good royal," Vivienne replied.

"You said that like there is something wrong with me. I could be a good mother to her. I could teach her not to be like her mother who allows her husband to attack her maid and then kill the poor woman. Or, is that what you want her to be?" Morgana asked, once again silencing Vivienne.

"Morgana," Darius warned his sister.

"I already told you if you don’t want what you do to get out then make it private. I’ve always known my brother to be a pig but then you go and just kill someone loyal to you. That I cannot understand," Morgana said, trying to figure out Vivienne.

Vivienne thought Morgana had some nerve to be more upset about what she did. "He lured my maid to a room to attack her to the point she went unconscious for a moment but you are questioning me giving her a peaceful death? It is what she wanted."

"Is it? It could be that she expected you to do something to avenge her but she already knew you were going to kill her. We’ve lost so many servants because of you and your jealousy. All I am saying is you two deserve each other," Morgana concluded.

Vivienne bit her tongue. She was better than this to be arguing with a childish woman.

Morgana inspected her nails. "I wonder what Xavier will think if he hears about it. You don’t care if I tell the right brother?"

Vivienne glared at Morgana. Nothing about what happened needed to leave the palace.

Darius watched Vivienne’s reaction. He didn’t need Morgana to tell him Vivienne was still in love with Xavier when he could see it himself. "I don’t care if you speak of it," he replied.

"You mustn’t discuss what happens in the palace with outsiders. It will only damage your brother in the end. I have always pushed for you to go after Xavier so I do not see why now you are trying to annoy me with his name. Surely, you have better things to do," Vivienne said but she knew Morgana didn’t.

Why couldn’t Morgana have been so heartbroken that she found a holy weapon to kill herself with?

"I don’t. Getting Xavier back in my hands is my focus now and I have to keep watch of the women still in love with him. I once believed you were no longer in love with Xavier and you turned to my brother. However, you’re no longer in love with my brother so you must be in love with Xavier. I said too much," Morgana stood up.

"I have intruded on your time together far too long. I will see you later brother. I must start my plan," Morgana said and then started to walk toward the door.

Vivienne waited for the door to close to say, "You must find something for your sister to do."

Darius shook his head. "Morgana’s time is well spent on what she loves to do. It is you who needs to do better as I see that you are not pregnant. Juliana’s arrival in the palace does not mean I don’t want to have a child with you. Stop worrying about my sister and do your part."

"Someone must worry about your sister. All of a sudden since is taking an interest in our daughter-"

"Someone must," Darius interjected. "If not her mother, her aunt should be there."

Vivienne couldn’t believe this. "My child is well taken care of. They all will be. You and everyone else forget that she also has a father who is too busy to see her."

"I see her when I have time. She should always be at your side to learn the ways of the palace and how to be a pureblood. We don’t know yet who she has taken after because her mother is so fixated on her old lover. I will kill you if I see you with him," Darius warned Vivienne.

Darius would not be insulted like this.

"You should stop listening to your sister, Darius. She gets in your head to turn you against me and you allow it to work each time. If you are not careful, you will be the one to die. Excuse me," Vivienne said, walking away from him.
