Betrayed by Fiance, Embraced by Hidden Tycoon-Chapter 269: Meet Grandpa Philips!
Chapter 269: Meet Grandpa Philips!
At Charlotte Morgan’s house,
Harvey sat across from his mother, trying to convince her to bless his marriage to Serena Philips.
Charlotte Morgan took another deep breath and set her teacup down. "It’s not that I disagree, but you also know her status as a celebrity. You know your grandfather dislikes celebrities, especially if the celebrity is his granddaughter-in-law, right?"
Harvey could only grumble intensely in his mind. He already understood the obstacle to marrying Serena Philips: his maternal grandfather would oppose it. They came from a family involved in politics, and celebrities were not the type of granddaughter-in-law they preferred.
"I know, Mom. But Serena isn’t just any celebrity..." Harvey reassured his mother again. "She’s an international movie star, and she’s also the granddaughter of James Philips. Mom still remembers, right? James Philips is Grandpa Nathaniel’s best friend."
"I remember." Charlotte narrowed her eyes at her firstborn. "Why are you bringing that old man up again?" she asked, displeased.
"If I marry Serena, Grandpa Nathaniel will be happy. This is my only way to get back into the company: to marry Serena and have a baby with her as soon as possible," Harvey explained excitedly. Still, Charlotte was left speechless upon hearing that.
Charlotte couldn’t believe her ears. Nevertheless, given his desperate state, she saw no reason to stop him, and she felt pity for her son, who had endured so much recently.
"Mom, please help me... If you agree and can talk to Grandpa, I promise I’ll work hard and become successful like I used to," Harvey pleaded once more. He needed his mother and maternal grandfather’s support to avoid being kicked out of the Morgan family.
Charlotte smiled weakly before replying, "Fine! I’ll help you, but you need to ensure that Serena stops her activities in the entertainment industry. I read some troubling news about her. If you want your grandpa to accept her, you’d better make sure she quits."
Harvey’s eyes lit up with happiness. "Thank you, Mom. I will make sure she no longer accepts any deals in entertainment," he promised.
After discussing some important matters concerning Harvey, who would soon join the Morgan Group, they lost track of time and only realized it as night approached.
Harvey quickly said goodbye to his mother. She stood up from her seat and walked him out of the living room. Just before he got into the car, she stopped him.
"What’s the matter, Mom?"
"Harvey, don’t forget that we will have dinner with the whole family on New Year’s Eve. You and Angela will attend, right?"
Harvey felt puzzled. Although he had promised to accompany Serena, he also worried that his grandpa would be angry and might not allow him to sit in the Morgan Group.
Seeing how puzzled Harvey looked, Charlotte frowned and said, "Don’t tell me you’re going to attend the Jones family’s dinner?"
Charlotte was utterly speechless. She was already angry with her ex-husband. How could that man allow their son to suffer like this—kicking Harvey out of the J Group? But she was also beginning to feel disappointed in her son because he seemed to choose them again.
"Mom, I’ll be there... Don’t worry." Harvey smiled to reassure his mother before driving his car from her house to meet Serena.

December 31.
At The Summit Apartments.
Serena had been waiting for Harvey in her living room for a while when she was startled by the sound of the doorbell. A slight smile formed at the corners of her lips as she spotted Harvey through the peephole. She quickly opened the door and heard him apologizing.
"Rena, sorry I’m late. I had to answer an important call earlier," Harvey said.
"It’s okay. At least we can visit my grandpa’s house earlier than planned," Serena said, smiling awkwardly at him. She wanted to take him to her family’s dinner and introduce him to Grandpa. Still, Harvey couldn’t because his maternal family had asked him to come instead.
"Thank you, Rena. You’re such a caring girlfriend," Harvey said, softly brushing her hand.
Harvey never imagined that he would have a girlfriend in such a short time, even though they only teamed up to get revenge on Sawyer. Still, he was grateful because Serena willingly accepted his offer to see if their fake relationship could become real. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
He politely extended his hand to Serena. When he noticed her shyly grasping his hand, he smiled and led her to the elevator.
"Have you told Grandpa Philips you’re coming to lunch with me?" Harvey asked, feeling curious. Tense as he awaited her answer, he turned to look at Serena.
"Yes, I told him. He was thrilled and can’t wait to meet you," Serena replied excitedly. She recalled telling her grandfather about her new boyfriend; he was genuinely shocked and asked her to introduce him immediately.
"But I didn’t reveal your identity to him. I hope you don’t mind," Serena said, concerned that her grandfather might reject Harvey as his grandson because he didn’t see Harvey as a suitable match for her.
"It’s fine. It would be amusing to see him shocked. I hope he doesn’t get too shocked, though. If he did, he would faint and end up in the Emergency Room..." Harvey chuckled playfully as he led her to the car.
...
As Harvey’s car finally pulled up to her grandfather’s house, Serena grew increasingly tense, particularly upon spotting Lucas, her grandfather’s butler, already standing by the door, waiting for them.
"Are you nervous?" Harvey smiled, turned off the car engine, and glanced at her. When he saw her nod, he shook his head. "There’s no need to worry. Grandpa Philips knows me. He’ll be happy to accept me, right?" he said confidently as he stepped out of the car.
’Harvey, if only you knew that my Grandpa and Dad don’t see you as a suitable husband for me, you might be angry...’ She let out a deep sigh as she got out of the car.
"Young Miss..." Lucas was utterly taken aback when he saw Serena arrive with Harvey Jones. He hadn’t anticipated that the man she brought home would be Harvey.
