Chapter 215: Wedding Night (2)
Slowly, darkness enveloped her, and the last voice she heard was:
"Abby? Abby? Are you really passing out?" Sawyer was utterly speechless.
’Damn it! Is she telling the truth? She can’t handle one glass of wine?’
Sawyer still couldn’t believe what he was seeing; his wife’s body had suddenly gone limp in his arms. He managed to catch the glass that slipped from her hand.
If he hadn’t seen her chest rising and falling, he might have thought she was dead.
A sour, foolish smile formed on his face as he set her glass of wine on the table while tilting his head to look at her face.
"Abby, are you seriously fainting? Oh, my dear little wife, this is not the right time for a prank, is it?" he asked again, gently shaking her shoulder to wake her, but she still didn’t respond.
Sawyer still couldn’t believe what had happened. He leaned closer to kiss her lips, but her reaction remained unchanged—she didn’t move at all. It felt more like he was kissing a mannequin.
This was the biggest regret he had in his entire life.
’Damn it! How could I force Abby to finish her wine when she said she can’t drink a glass!?’
Thinking he had to wait again to consummate their wedding night made his head spin. Deep down, he wanted to throw himself into the flames of regret.
"You are so freaking stupid, Sawyer Jones!" he scolded himself once more. After taking another deep breath to calm his heart, he wrapped his hand around her waist, trying to make her feel comfortable.
Sawyer gazed at her innocent face, reflecting on his misfortune; a faint smile appeared on his lips. However, when he heard her soft snore, he nearly laughed. Gently, he lifted her and carried her to the bed, placing her limp body down and covering her with a soft blanket.
He didn’t join her right away on the bed; he just stood by the side, looking at her beautiful, pale face as she slept deeply.
"You know what, my little wife? Even in your sleep, you turn me on!" He laughed inwardly, hysterically, while rubbing the back of his neck, trying to suppress the heat building inside him.
Yet, the more he attempted to control his desire, the stronger the urge became to jump on the bed and touch her.
Closing his eyes, Sawyer took a deep, long breath, trying to set aside his sultry thoughts.
After a while, he opened his eyes and looked at her again, hoping the urge to touch her had faded. However, his mind was still in turmoil.
Feeling defeated, he ruffled his hair as he walked toward the bathroom. He needed to cool down, or he might do something he would regret.
"Man! I need to take a cold shower!" Sawyer muttered as he dragged his feet to the bathroom.

The next day.
Abigail felt awful. Her head felt heavy, and her body was too stiff to move. She attempted to open her eyes but found it challenging to do so.
’What happened to me? Am I in a dream? Why does this feel like torture?’ she whispered under her breath while trying again to open her eyes.
When she finally managed to open them, a soft light filled the room. It was dimly lit, with only a yellow lamp at the far end. She glanced at the window and noticed the sky was still dark.
’Wait, why am I still wearing the same clothes? We were supposed to be celebrating our wedding night, right?’ she wondered, pinching her nape in confusion. They were supposed to spend their first night together, and she was sure Sawyer wouldn’t let her wear anything.
Suddenly, memories of the previous night flooded back. She remembered drinking Sawyer’s old wine, but after drinking the wine, she remembered nothing else.
’Oh my gosh! I passed out on my wedding night. Seriously, Abigail Lewis!?’ She was left speechless and felt sorry to imagine how disappointed Sawyer must be.
Abigail tilted her head to look beside her. She saw Sawyer was still sleeping, a blanket covering his waist and exposing his bare chest. Before their marriage, he had never slept like this; he usually wore clothes.
She silently gulped as she took in the sight of her husband’s firm and attractive upper body.
Shaking her head slowly to dispel her impure thoughts, she looked at his face, only to have those thoughts return. She let out a quiet, long sigh.
’I’m sorry, Sawyer...’ she whispered. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
Abigail knew how much Sawyer had been looking forward to their wedding night, just as she had. She felt utterly terrible for fainting on their first night as a married couple.
Once again, Abigail took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. She turned to her side, facing him. After a few minutes, she noticed he was still asleep. She moved closer and settled near him to feel his warmth, trying not to wake him.
As Abigail thought about wanting to sleep more because it was still dark outside, she felt him stir. Before she could look up at him, his hands wrapped around her waist, pulling her into his embrace.
She was taken aback, surprised, but didn’t resist his tight embrace.
"Are you awake?" Sawyer’s hoarse voice came from above her.
Abigail struggled to meet his gaze, feeling his chin resting on her head. Instead, her eyes focused on his upper chest, and she could hear his heartbeat softly thumping.
"Hmm, I just woke up. Sorry if I disturbed you," Abigail replied. When she felt Sawyer loosen his embrace, she finally lifted her head to meet his gentle eyes.
"It’s fine. I sleep well and a lot," he said, attempting to smooth out a few strands of hair that had fallen across her forehead. His eyes remained locked with hers. "How are you feeling, my wife?"
"Better," she responded, not entirely truthful, as she didn’t want to worry him. She already felt terrible for fainting on their wedding night.
"Good, that’s what I want to hear..." He smiled and leaned in to kiss her between the eyebrows.
