Chapter 206: Uninvited Guest!

Sitting between Sawyer and Hannah, Abigail enjoyed the lunch party. She listened to their family chitchat while occasionally engaging with her mother-in-law and Martha, seated beside Hannah.

The two elders, Nathaniel and James, sat across from her and tried their best to occasionally join the conversation.

However, Abigail noticed something: her father-in-law, Walter, seemed gloomy. He looked unhappy and less chatty than the others.

Several times, she wondered if Walter Jones didn’t like her. However, she refused to believe it, thinking she was exaggerating her concerns.

Abigail tried to set aside her curiosity about Walter as she glanced at Sawyer, now chatting with Rowan, Andy, and the others.

She couldn’t quite catch what they were discussing. However, something made her curious: she still couldn’t believe that Andy Bennet was actually present at their wedding.

"Is Sawyer so close to Andy that he invited him even after discovering Andy had feelings for me?" This question had been swirling in her mind.

She wanted to ask Sawyer why he had invited Andy Bennet, but she worried it might ruin her husband’s mood. She could see how happy he was spending time with his friends.

Abigail hadn’t spoken much with Andy, even though she had several opportunities, as he visibly maintained a distance from her. So far, he had only congratulated her with a handshake and some formal words people usually gave to acquaintances; since then, they hadn’t exchanged any further words.

Abigail began eating her dessert to relax and brush the thought away.

However, after a few moments of successfully immersing herself in enjoying some delicious desserts, Hannah suddenly throws a question that shocks Abigail’s mind.

"Abigail, when are you planning to have a cute little child? Are you going to postpone it?"

The question completely caught her off guard. She had never discussed this with Sawyer or thought about it herself. How could she answer Hannah now?

Moreover, if she just nonchalantly said yes or no, Sawyer might have something else more specific in his mind. She needed to talk to Sawyer about it first.

"Oh dear Hannah, they can’t postpone having children. Our Sawyer is already thirty-five; he’s not getting any younger," Martha suddenly chimed in, looking at Hannah with a sweet smile before her gaze shifted to Abigail. "Isn’t that right, dear Abigail?"

Before Abigail could answer them, she felt Sawyer’s hand on her back. She turned to see him and saw his smile framing his handsome face. Slowly, her confusion faded, and the tension she felt earlier subsided.

Abigail smiled back at him just before she noticed Sawyer leaning closer. She thought he might kiss her, but she was mistaken. He only wanted to speak to his mother and grandmother.

His low voice was loud enough for Hannah and Martha to hear: "Mom, Granny, we haven’t planned anything about our future children. If God grants us children now, we will accept them, but if not, we won’t rush it."

Abigail smiled faintly, touched by Sawyer’s sweetness, trying to protect her from Hannah’s difficult question. However, her smile turned frosty when he continued.

"And stop putting pressure on my wife. If she is stressed, you won’t get any grandchildren from us," His tone remained calm, but his words felt like a cold blast to Hannah and Martha.

Hannah and Martha wanted to scold Sawyer, but he had already shifted his focus to talking with his friends. Thus, the two ladies sighed profoundly, shook their heads, and smiled awkwardly at Abigail.

"Don’t mind us, dear..." Hannah smiled as she gently tapped Abigail’s hand.

"Yes, yes... Please don’t stress about our question. There’s no need to rush. You’re still young," Martha added before returning to her lunch.

Abigail was speechless.

...

Sawyer continued paying attention to Rowan and Andy while holding Abigail’s hand under the table.

They all chatted and enjoyed their lunch, but soon Sawyer’s expression changed when he saw Paul approaching him to whisper something.

"Master, someone has forced their way into the house. I tried to stop them, but this person insists on meeting you," Paul said quietly. "You need to check the situation outside."

Sawyer dismissed Paul and leaned closer to Abigail, whispering in her ear so only she could hear. He didn’t want anyone else to know about the situation outside.

"My love, I must return to the house to make an important call. If you’re feeling tired, you can go to our bedroom on the third floor."

"Sawyer, is there a problem?" she asked, looking worried.

"No, it’s work-related. There’s no need to worry." He smiled, gently kissed her cheek, then stood up from the table and left with Paul to address the issue.

Hannah and Martha watched as Sawyer left them with a tense expression that mixed annoyance and frustration, and they became worried.

Martha couldn’t help but ask, "Abigail, what’s the matter? Why does Sawyer look upset?"

"Is something bothering him? Who...?" Hannah asked, looking confused.

Abigail was also puzzled. Although Sawyer’s voice was calm when he said goodbye, she could sense the annoyance behind his gaze.

"I don’t know either, Mom, Grandma..." Abigail said with a slight smile, trying to reassure them. "But it doesn’t seem like there’s a real problem. Don’t worry too much—he just needed to make a phone call."

Feeling reassured, Hannah and Martha stopped asking questions and returned to chatting while enjoying their dessert.

Inside the house, Sawyer walked quickly toward the underground area, accompanied by Paul as they made their way to the CCTV control room.

He knew that if Paul struggled with this situation, it involved someone significant—someone he couldn’t ignore. His mother, Charlotte Morgan, would only fit that description.

"Who wants to make a scene outside?" Sawyer asked coldly, fixing his gaze on Paul.

"Your sister, Angela Jones—"

Suddenly, Sawyer stopped just before they entered the CCTV room.

"You said she is outside? And she knows this property is my house?"

"Yes, sir. The guard on duty asked her to leave, explaining that she had the wrong address. But Miss Angela refused to go. She insisted that this was your house and insisted on meeting you."
