Chapter 351: Chapter 77: Li Yan’s Response (Part Five)

“`

At the moment of collision with the passenger jet, Li Yan’s eyes filled with a crimson hue, blood seeping from all his facial features, his arms cracked everywhere, his skeleton seemed to have shattered.

The Dodge Tomahawk instantaneously blasted through the armored and outer shell of the cargo plane and exited through the shell on the other side of the cabin!

As it pierced the cabin, the Dodge Tomahawk resembled a carp leaping over the dragon gate.

In an instant, Li Yan’s gaze swept over countless dark gun muzzles, Black Star’s vehicle with an incredulous and somewhat frightened look in its eyes. He even saw a familiar face, Wu Jianming, who had once had a minor conflict with him and had said Li Yan and Song Zuo could come and settle the score anytime. But subsequent events turned too volatile, and Li Yan had forgotten about him.

In this unexpected encounter, Li Yan instinctively launched a “Blood Dip,” not clearly seeing the effectiveness before being carried away by the roaring Dodge Tomahawk, bursting out of the shattered cabin.

Of course, Li Yan finally saw, in the chaotic struggle between the Medicine Buddha and the Black Star’s vehicle, the one who came out on top—Liang Zhengyong.

With a hooked nose, sunken eyes, deep nasolabial folds flanking his nose, and a suitcase tucked under his arm, his eyes shot a piercing cold light.

Bang!

Li Yan’s field of view suddenly widened, as he and the Dodge Tomahawk, with its large head plunging down, spun relentlessly in the sky, against the grand backdrop of black-red radioactive clouds mingling with golden flames, plummeting toward the ground!

The leaping Dodge Tomahawk had literally gutted the large transport plane, piercing right through it!

As the world spun around him, Li Yan glanced at his status bar; aside from “Moderate Bleeding” there were no other anomalies, indicating that the damage to his organs and bones remained within acceptable limits.

The entire body of the Dodge Tomahawk had shrunk inward by more than a foot, which was the space left by the original suspension components. Now these had shattered into pieces, as if the Dodge Tomahawk had undergone slimming surgery.

The entire body was wrinkled and cracked, a ghastly sight, with the exhaust pipes belching black smoke, reminiscent of a dying patient coughing up blood.

The All-Function Tactical Spider’s energy lights went out completely, and it even sported a gash as wide as a thumb.

Whoosh!

A massive black shadow covered Li Yan, as large fragments of the fuselage tumble down amidst black smoke. Thousands of fiery debris scattered, and Li Yan even glimpsed a few flame-engulfed blue coffins falling, but at such heights, even the Yak Zombies, forced into a deep slumber, had no whole body left.

Suddenly, a strong and vigorous hand braced against the blackened edge of the cargo plane’s gaping hole. Liang Zhengyong’s forehead displayed a deep, bone-deep gash from which blood gushed, saturating half of his face.

Their eyes clashed in mid-air.

Boom!

An even more violent large explosion swept through the fuselage once again, engulfing Liang Zhengyong’s stern and angry face.

Li Yan retracted the Dodge Tomahawk, splayed his arms wide, and a surging muddy water sphere enshrouded his entire body. Because of the high-speed fall, Wu Zhiqi Water was even harder to control, causing large amounts of water droplets to scatter. The chilly image of the Goddess Gu Huo circled around the muddy sphere.

In the intense feeling of weightlessness, Gu Huo Bird’s projection circled down, and the water sphere collided straight towards a towering black peak!

Without a sound, Goddess Gu Huo made a sharp turn, and the position of the water sphere switched with the projection! The terrifying impact carried by the water sphere was shared with the Gu Huo Bird’s projection, altering the angle of Li Yan’s descent. It was no longer a collision with the mountain, but a fall skirting past it.

A white gold spear protruded from the water mass, its blade sharp enough to slice through iron. It ground against the rocks, sending sparks flying. The spinning water mass pressed against the angular mountain, steam rising from the severe friction. Li Yan grabbed the spear shaft with his backhand, his arm bones making a horrendous creaking noise, and the tiger-head spear shaft bent at a frightful angle.

From afar, only clouds of dust could be seen rising, followed then by the crashing transport plane hitting the mountain peak. After repeated thunderous crashes, the mountain’s peak sent up thick smoke and flames towards the leaden heavy clouds—no one could survive such relentless explosions!

Whew~whew~

Li Yan exerted force in his arms, minute wounds all over his body oozed blood, soaking his undershirt. But though these wounds looked frightening, they hardly impaired his movement.

The disheveled Li Yan brushed off the dust on himself and raised his eyes to the mountain peak engulfed in flames, letting out a sharp whistle.

As if responding, a flame emerged from the peak. A figure emerged, in tattered black military uniform, bathing in the flames. First to appear were two strong, muscular arms. Liang Zhengyong stepped out of the explosion with a slight arch in his spine, his clenched fists gripping another’s collar, striding steadily from the blast with sticky flames trailing and clinging to his body, yet unable to scorch his clothes.

Ranking alongside the Youfu Raith, a fourth-tier soldier: Proton Starfire.

The two he dragged out were female staff officers who had followed him. One had her head sheared off by a steel wing, leaving behind only a charred torso that Liang Zhengyong dragged out. The other’s skin was burned to the bone, yet her chest still rose and fell.

“Commander…,” she uttered.

Liang Zhengyong’s gaze swept over the face of this female subordinate.

What met Liang Zhengyong’s eye were the bright red exposed muscle tissues, bones, and decayed eye sockets.

The female staff officer’s charred and exposed gums opened and closed, but the hellish torture left her unable to utter a complete sentence.

Liang Zhengyong’s large hand covered her face, and he whispered into her ear, “Deep breaths, it’ll be okay soon.”

His tone was as always calm, steadfast, conveying the indisputable presence of a leader.

“Commander, I, I’m in so much… pain…”

The female staff officer’s fingers tightly clung to Liang Zhengyong’s sleeve, her knuckles whitening, her terrifying face filled with vulnerability and fear.

A violent golden flame erupted from Liang Zhengyong’s palm, instantly turning his female subordinate’s head into black ashes.

Li Yan’s facial features flickered in the dazzling flames, wearing an indifferent expression.

Liang Zhengyong stood up, took off his black military coat, his white undershirt clinging to his solid torso, soaked with blood, showing that this iron-blooded leader was not completely unscathed.

He stepped forward, “I should thank you for giving me a moment to bid farewell to my subordinate, Yan Fu. Come on then.”

The golden flames rose to the sky, authority seeping through the indifference in Liang Zhengyong’s expression.

Li Yan shifted his gaze from the two corpses on the ground. He thrust his fist forward, opening his palm to reveal a metal coin lying quietly within.

“Did you get it?”

Li Yan asked softly.

“Hmm?”

A questioning grunt escaped from Liang Zhengyong’s throat.

“An old man, he donated to the Black Star Care Home for Carts, not much money though. Ha, there should also be a construction proposal letter, saying you would respond.”

Li Yan’s tone lifted, “Did you get that?”

“…”

“That is to say, you didn’t reply either, huh.”

“Such activities are just slogans. I have more important tasks at hand.”

“Who do you think you are?”

Li Yan laughed again.

He raised his hand, tossing the coin into the ravine where it flashed a spark of starlight against the breaking dawn before vanishing from sight.

Li Yan walked silently up the mountain.

“Those created by their era all have the illusion that they can create and shape the world by their own hands. But it is always just an illusion.”

Icy frost spread, colliding and entwining with the golden flames.

“This world will never change drastically for any one person. The higher their position, the less aware they are of this. The inertia brought on by immense power starts to make them overlook the pain and empathy of ordinary people, crowning every sacrifice with a cold and lofty title.”

Song Zuo’s face flashed before Li Yan.

“In the end, these people lack the necessary awe for the era itself.”

Li Yan’s eyes blazed with fury as the image of the Goddess Gu Huo rose from the ground!

“Medicine Buddha, the three great authorities, Ramu Jue, and you, all of you take yourselves too seriously.”
