Beauty in the beast world-Chapter 325: Challenge
Chapter 325: Challenge
Nate stopped midair before turning back into his beastman form. He quickly covered himself with the cloth he had carried and walked towards the battlefield. It was just as he said, it was indeed a battlefield. His tribe did not look the same. The Eagle tribe had been fairly peaceful for the longest time, but it didn’t seem like the case anymore. That wretched female! From the moment Alice stepped foot inside their tribe, its bad days started and their king started to suffer. She was the one responsible for everything that bad has happened.
Now, he saw his King caught up in the same female’s scheme once again. He was fighting a life-or-death battle with Lord Kaizer while he did no wrong to deserve it. Nathan was too late, he could do nothing but watch silently as the fight continued. He was not powerful enough to stop the fight. He could only hope that neither of them get seriously injured and the fight would end soon.
In the distance, he caught sight of Queen Lyra and her struggling to make her mates understand the current bizarre situation. Nate sighed deeply; at least this way, he could help his King. He decided to go to the lady’s mates and explain everything so that this nightmare would get resolved before it was too late. It did not matter, even if he had to beg on his knees for them to hear him out; he would do so gladly for his King. He started to walk toward them but his steps came to a sudden halt when he felt an unfamiliar presence around him. It was so powerful that he wanted to cower in some safe place.
Then it hit him, the strong and pungent smell of blood that seemed like it was coming from a fresh kill. His face went pale as he inhaled further to examine it in detail; the scent ....the repulsing scent of fresh blood did not belong to a wild animal; instead, it was of a female.
Nate’s head snapped toward the direction the scent was coming from, and he felt himself almost retch out. This was not something common or simple; the beastmen shed blood more often and were used to it, but to smell a female’s blood.... was like the scariest terror that any male can have. The only time they even smelled females was during the former’s heat.
That scent was sweet and tempting...but this? This was like nothing he had smelled before. Being a bird beastman, his sense of smell was dull compared to other beastmen, but this repulsive scent sent him even into a frenzy. Not only him but the other Eagle beastmen who were before running away from the battlefield turned back and started to break down. A precious female has met her end brutally while the males failed to protect her.
Nate thought some kind of Feral beastman did this but how wrong he was. Glaring evidence stood right before his eyes as he saw King Xavier holding a severed head in his hand. A moment later, the King threw the head like it was something useless as he said, "Isn’t she the one that tried to hurt you? I took care of her for you. Are you happy now my pretty female?"
Following that, a loud shriek left Lyra’s mouth. Her eyes turned red as tears started to stream down her cheeks without control. Her entire body shook in terror, and she stumbled back, trying to erase the image that she had just seen. It was not an easy thing to do though, cause the image was still lying in the ground a few steps from her. Alice’s decapitated head, full of blood oozing from it stared right at Lyra.
"What’s wrong pretty female?" Xavier stepped forward, asking in worry, but Lyra rushed back behind her mates.
"Stay away!" She shouted, stopping Xavier in his tracks. His brows furrowed in confusion as he tried to make sense of the situation. What was the problem? He eliminated the one that caused her pain, wasn’t that good? Xavier’s thoughts were simple: he always got rid of the ones that caused him problems; according to him, that was an efficient way of dealing with a threat.
However, what he failed to realize was how out of touch he had been till now. He was exiled from his tribe and the beast city when he was very young. The majority of his stay in the tribe had been filled with neglect and abuse from those who deemed him a vile being that shouldn’t exist. He was born without his father’s consent and that made him a target. He grew up in isolation so the norms of Beastworld were foreign to him.
Even when he had killed the female who had wanted to assault him in the past, there was no remorse involved on his side. She deserved what happened to her just like Alice did. Rules and traditions meant little to him; he knew females were precious to the Beastworld, but that was it. He didn’t know that they had to get pardoned even if they committed a crime. He failed to remember his father not punishing his mother and only exiling her even though she committed a misdeed against the King. He never knew that his father killed his mother in secret and covered it up.
What Xavier did was opposite of it. Not only he killed a female that had done him no harm but also did it in front of the entire world. The eagle tribe had already turned against Xavier and soon the other tribes would follow. For them, no matter what Alice did, she shouldn’t have died. Exiled or punished Yes but brutally killed? No.
Blake called Killian in a grim voice, "Open the portal, take Lilly away from here, now!"
"Yes" the latter agreed right away and started to manifest his powers which made Xavier narrow his eyes.
"Don’t you dare" he said in a warning tone, "I will kill each one of you if you try to take her from me"
The surroundings came to a suffocating still as soon as he finished his words. The silence went on for too long until a familiar voice broke it, "I want you to try, King Xavier"
Everyone looked in a certain direction and saw Kyrell walking towards them. His face and body was bruised due to the earlier fight with Kaizer. Yet he stood tall and unflinching, "Try stopping her from leaving if you can" then he looked Killian.
"Take her from here to somewhere safe, i will handle this bastard"
