Beauty in the beast world-Chapter 297: The rituals
Chapter 297: The rituals
After her conversation with Mona, Lyra felt at ease. The former was not that of a sweet talker and was rather direct and open with her words. However, it still managed to calm Lyra down. It felt like a breath of fresh air talking to someone her age. After coming to the Beast world, the ones she most missed after her parents were her girlfriends. The time she had spent with them was priceless and most importantly, comforting. Mona’s conversation felt similar to her friends, it was consoling and reassuring.
Lyra got up from her bed and splashed cold water onto her face to wake herself up to meet the upcoming events. Then she wore something simple and walked out of her room and reached the living room where all her mates had gathered.
Killian sprang up from his place as soon as he saw his mate coming down the stairs. Blake likewise made his way toward his mate and held her hand. His thumb rubbed along the back of her hand while he asked worriedly, "Are you feeling alright, Lilly?" Lyra nodded, "I’m okay" Her voice had turned hoarse due to all the crying but apart from that, she was alright. Or that was how she wanted to be right now. During her pondering, her eyes met Killian’s. The latter looked very worried about her so she made sure to give him a small smile, "I’m good, sweetheart"
During this, Demir entered the castle with his father as he announced, "All of the preparations are done, it’s time that we leave before...." his words came to a sudden halt when he saw his mate standing beside the snake. Without wasting a second more, he made his way to her and pulled her into a hug. He left out a relieved sigh that he seemed to have been holding for a long time.
As soon as he saw his mate breaking down hearing King Leonard’s death, Demir had a bad feeling. He knew his mate would blame herself for this situation even though she did nothing wrong. He was not that good at consoling someone so when he heard about Lucas’ sister visiting his mate, Demir was relieved. His chaotic mind eased knowing that someone who was not that close to his mate was willing to comfort her. Because he knew his sunshine well, she would just get more upset if one of them talked to her and told her that it was not her fault. She would think that as nothing but a lie uttered by her mates. Those who love her and those who would never see the wrong in her.
Lyra pulled away from her mate and looked up to see his frowning face. She felt his palm cupping her face as he examined her eyes. Then she heard him say, "They are swollen" There was so much sadness in those words that he had just uttered which made Lyra hug him back. She chose not to speak anything because she felt like tears would spill out from her eyes the moment she opened her mouth. She didn’t want to worry her mates anymore.
After that, she gave a big hug to Killian as well before all of them including the late King Leonard left for the Lion tribe via Killian’s portal. This was the fastest way they could reach the tribe where the mourning ritual would take place. It was appropriate for a beastman to rest in his tribe and as a King, Noah’s father had to be buried in the royal burial site designated for all of the former royals of the Lion tribe.
Reaching the center of the Lion tribe, the late king was bathed to wash off the blood from the injuries he had received from the fight. One by one, his family members doused him with water as a last resort to see his regal face before he would be gone forever. After the Lion Queen, Noah, and Lyra holding their cubs poured water on the king straightening his beautiful orange mane.
Then the King was dressed appropriately by the servants before they carried them to the burial site with Lyra and mates following behind them.
Small sobs and wails of sorrow could be heard everywhere as they watched the final journey of one of the greatest Beast kings that had ruled the Beast city. Lyra tightened her hold around Noah’s waist and rubbed his back trying to calm him down. He looked so distraught and on the verge of breaking down into ugly sobs. This level of sadness was new to him. Daniel’s death made him experience something similar but this....was worse. Noah wished no one this sorrow, not even to his worst enemies.
But surprisingly he felt calm when his mate rubbed his back telling him that he was not alone. That she was with him. Without her, he would have been lost after this incident. She had come into his life like a dove that was meant to bring him peace and calm. His baby dove.
Like that, they finally reached the burial site. The guards lowered the late king into the gravepit that was already dug out. Then the witch masters recited some kind of chants and spells that could hopefully send the king to the Beast deity.
Following that, the first to put the soil inside the grave was the Lion Queen, King Leonard’s spouse. Then it was Noah’s turn ensured by the King’s Grandsons and at last by Lyra. The Queen’s other mates did their part before the guards and other tribesmen completed the burial process.
Then the guards put up a tombstone with a Lion marking on it where the late king now rested. And as soon as this took place, the Lion Queen who seemed to have held back until now collapsed on the ground as she wailed loudly. No matter, how much her other mates tried to calm her down, it was deemed useless in front of her sorrow that was so great. She lost her first mate, her childhood sweetheart, the man she loved wholeheartedly. She lost her king. Her Leo.
Lyra’s heart broke seeing the Queen like this. She could not fathom how difficult this must have been for the queen. One moment the King was well and alive and now, he was gone and would never return.
She saw Lucas’s mother helping the Lion Queen up and walked with her to the exit. That made Lyra think, her eyes wandered around trying to find someone amongst the crowd. Lucas, Victor, and Kai were nowhere to be seen.
Lyra had no time to dwell on this because as soon as the rituals were completed, everyone present started to leave the graveyard.
They soon reached the front of the Lion Castle. Before entering, everyone was told to sprinkle some water on themselves to keep any unwanted souls that might have followed them from the graveyard. Lyra did as the others and together with her mates and babies, went inside.
"Your majesty!" Her attention then shifted when she heard a loud commotion, "The Eagle King is fighting with Prince Lucas and King Victor, Your Majesty!"
Those were the last words she heard before she completely blacked out. Her legs gave away and she slumped down while Noah held her.
"Baby dove!"
"Sunshine!"
"Lilly!"
"Love!"fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
