Beauty in the beast world-Chapter 274: Preparing

After Blake left the snake tribe to carry out the mass hunt suitable for tonight’s banquet, Lyra decided to make plans for the same event with her new friends. Both Snakes and Vultures are carnivorous in nature and they tended to mainly eat meat. It seemed like snake females were the same because as soon as Lyra asked them about vegetables, they scrunched up thier noses in disdain and looked as though they would rather die than eat veggies. Lyra was not going to lie, that slightly stung her because she loved greens and veggies which urged her to force her mates and babies to eat them. Right now, she once again realized how adorable her family was because, whatever she made them eat, they did without a single complaint.

While Lyra was lost in her thoughts, she felt a stinging gaze behind her which made her turn around. Familiar purple eyes were pointedly gazing at her and that in turn made her frown. And as soon as she did that, the one she was glimpsing at looked miserable, she saw as Kaizer’s face paled and his strong gaze turned into one filled with sadness. His gaze now was imploring her to tell what wrong he did and Lyra couldn’t help but smile at that but she made sure to quickly cover it before putting on a serious front in front of the clumsy beastman she now had in her life.

Kaizer felt like he wanted to die right there. He was sure that he did something wrong to incur his bunny’s wrath. And his heart further broke when he saw her turning her back on him. He had a hard time holding back his urge to run to her.

As Kaizer was losing his mind thinking for naught, Lyra on the other hand caught sight of some older beastmen coming towards her. They seemed like snake beastmen with their long eyes and sharp features. Even when being old, they still looked quite handsome. According to what she had observed till now, snake beastmen were very good-looking. Be it male or female, they looked exquisite regardless of their gender but offcourse Blake was still the number one in her eyes. No other snake beastmen could be compared to him.....That fellow looked unnecessarily handsome which always made her heart beat louder each time she saw him.

Coming back, for now, she didn’t know why the older snake beastmen were coming toward her until a guard was willing enough to explain it to her, "They must have heard about you arranging a banquet, Your Majesty’’ then the guy’s voice turned softer as though pitying the one he was talking about, "Most of the older beasts gets discarded by thier females due to being useless and failing to provide for their mates. Hence as a preventive measure to stop the older beastmen from turning into strays or dying, Peter started to assign them with menial work done around the tribe. From keeping the tribe clean and preserving meat, they do all the work and then receive payment in return’’

Lyra was amazed by what she had just heard. Her respect for Peter grew even more and she could now understand why her babies liked that man so much. He was strong and strict while training them as well as caring and kind at other times. She felt grateful that her babies were growing up with a good influence. Then she turned her attention to the beastmen approaching her, "Your majesty’’ they tried to kneel which she stopped immediately.

"Please don’t kneel, I don’t feel it is right for someone older than me to do this’’ Lyra quickly explained before helping them to raise up but that only confused the older beastmen. They didn’t see how it was wrong for them to kneel before her. She is their queen and they were greeting her for the first time so this was necessary but when they saw thier queen adamant about her decision, they didn’t question further before they stood up. There was no Elder and Younger in the beast world, One needed to respect the person in the higher position and that was absolute.

Nonetheless, Lyra was against this. She had grown accustomed to the norms of the beast world or to most of the things done here but still, she wouldn’t be able to stand someone elder than her kneel before her. As she asked all of the females and Snake beastmen to sit with her, they were very hesitant but with her constant urging, they gave in before settling themselves on the ground. The snow had melted away in some areas which made it optimal for them to sit as Lyra started talking, "So what can I help you with?’’

Her manner of talking made the older beastmen very shocked as well as happy. No one had talked to them like this after they lost their youth and power. They felt uncomfortable in the beginning but soon started to ease around as they conversed with their queen, "We heard that Your Majesty was organizing a banquet tonight and wanted to ask for some job that we can help with" Then he scratched his head seeming awkward, "Please don’t judge us by how we look.....Because as a group, we work very well. Do give us a chance, Your Majesty’’

Lyra didn’t know what to reply. She just felt so sorry for them and wanted to help them by any means possible, ’’I’m glad you guys came because I really needed your help" And as soon as those words left her mouth, the beastmen’s face brightened. They gave all thier attention to what she was saying next. Lyra talked about arranging a variety of food so that people could enjoy tonight’s event and as well as telling them about planning some sort of entertainment to make the banquet more fun. It didn’t matter if it was singing, dancing, or simple games, Lyra wanted to do something new. At every banquet she had attended, the only thing that was constantly present was food and duels between the males. The second one did make sense because bonfires were the only places single males could come into contact with females to show their talent in hopes of getting chosen by the latter.

However, Lyra wanted to add something less threatening as a sport in tonight’s banquet. Something more fun that all of them could enjoy without shedding blood. And when Lyra said her thoughts out loud, the ones to support it were the females. They too didn’t like their favorite mates getting hurt while constantly defending the advances of bachelor beastmen. The delight they had about attending a banquet always vanished whenever they saw their mate’s bloodied form after a duel.

Seeing the female’s reaction, Lyra really felt like she could move her plan ahead. She could organize some harmless courting games to impress the females instead of unnecessary duels. And whoever wins will get an opportunity to court the females they fancy but offcourse, the final decision will be made by the former. Lyra didn’t like the idea of her fellow sisters accepting the ones that they didn’t like. That sudden thought made her glance at Kaizer. He was standing near a tree while stealing glances at her and when he felt her eyes on him, he squirmed in his place. Lyra felt like she would have a hard time forgiving Kaizer for what he did to her. Forcing her to accept him...was not that great but what could she say to that clumsy brute? He didn’t seem like someone that would understand her but she could try. Only after he regrets his actions will she accept him wholeheartedly.
