Death.

Well, that was actually a reasonable theory.

Come to think of it, the reason why Kai transmigrated in the first place was because of a death experience.

Then, did that mean that the traffic accident caused the two of them to die?

"Strange," he muttered. That couldn't be the case.

The doctors didn't find anything strange in their bodies. In fact, it seemed like they didn't even get hit at all!

So, just how close to death do they have to reach in order for them to switch back?

Kai sighed and looked around, wondering what he could do.

He couldn't just try to die while in the stadium. That would be traumatizing! There were a lot of families who came here with small children.

Aside from that, Kai just couldn't slash himself off. First, he didn't have the guts to do it. And second, it really wasn't a guarantee that they would switch bodies back if he died.

He couldn't waste a precious life!

Yet, Kai had a feeling that a variation of it would work.

With that, he turned to the bench, where the team was still speaking. The heat was all on Aiden. He scratched the back of his head, appearing guilty as the others flamed him for doing such a bad job.

Kai glanced at the scoreboard.

19-28. In favor of the French team.

It wasn't that bad, but it wasn't good either. And with how Aiden was playing, he was sure they were going to lag even further.

"You're out, Kai," Coach Xu Wei said, causing Aiden's eyes to go wide. However, he felt some relief when he realized he didn't have to play anymore with such basketball monsters.

"Coach," he tried to argue, but Coach shot his hand up.

"I think you still haven't recovered," the coach continued. "Go sit. I'll think about whether I'll include you in the rest of the game."

Aiden knew he should work hard for this, but he couldn't help the corners of his mouth from rising!

"Jimmy," Coach Xu Wei said, surprising the entire team. Jimmy usually didn't play during critical moments like this because he was the most hot-headed out of all the young players.

Yet, Coach Xu Wei had actually chosen him!

"Play the rest of the quarter," he said.

Jimmy, despite not believing it, nodded in determination. He glanced at where his father usually sat and saw he wasn't paying attention and was speaking with some investors.

"I'll do my best," Jimmy said.

Aiden nudged his back, causing him to jolt forward. "You better!"

Jimmy glared at him. "You're not the one talking right now," he muttered. "You suck."

With that, the time-out ended, and the new five players went to the court.

"So, Kai Guo has been benched, huh?" David asked.

"Seems like it," Gina said. "It doesn't look like he's sad about it, though. He keeps smiling…like a meerkat."

"Do meerkats even smile?" David asked.

"I don't know—wait, what's this?" Gina exclaimed, her eyes focusing on the court. "A point from Jimmy Wang!"

21-28.

"Nice one, Jimmy!" Zheng called from the bench.

Jimmy's face lit up, and he glanced at his dad once again. However, nothing changed. He was still speaking with the investors, not paying Jimmy any attention.

Just then, Kai's words echoed in the back of his mind.

"Do you enjoy playing basketball?"

"I think you're not the problem."

Jimmy shook his head. Why was he even considering that guy's words? He was clearly not right in the mind!

Yet, at that moment, Jimmy found himself focusing more on the game.

Not on his dad's reaction. Not on how the other players might shoot more than him.

But to win for the team.

However, that seemed easier said than done. The French team wasn't letting up, and the Chinese team's inexperience was slowly showing through.

Still, Aiden watched with a proud smirk. "I did that," he muttered, patting himself on the back as Jimmy flied on the court.

Just then, he felt someone burning holes in the side of his face. He felt a shiver run down his spine.

He turned to look in the direction of the glare and found Kai staring right at him.

Kai sighed in relief as soon as Aiden turned to him. He was too engrossed in watching Jimmy to notice that Kai had been trying to get his attention for the past five minutes!

The first quarter was about to end, and the gap had extended to 11 points. The bench was becoming increasingly restless as the time ticked.

Kai didn't know if his presence alone could make them win, but he was sure that he would be able to contribute something to the team…as long as he was the one who played.

With that, he gestured to Aiden.

Kai placed his thumb over his neck and dragged it over from one side to the other. "Die," he mouthed, hoping Aiden would get the message.

"Accident!" Kai continued.

He wanted to relay that the probable reason they might have switched bodies was because of the accident.

Aiden froze, making Kai frown.

"Oh no," Aiden muttered, goosebumps arising from his skin. "He has snapped."

"He wants me to die," he continued.

"Not just that. But he wants to make it seem like an accident!" he ranted to himself.

Kai watched him with furrowed eyebrows. What the heck was he thinking? He was as pale as a ghost.

Aiden looked up once more but regretted it right away. Kai was glaring at him now.

"Alright, calm down," Aiden said. "Let's get back in the game."

With that, he went to Coach Xu Wei and went on his knees. The other players, along with Kai, watched with wide eyes.

"What is he doing?" Kai hissed under his breath.

"Coach," Aiden pleaded.

The old man looked at him, wondering what the strange young man was up to.

"Yes?" Coach Xu Wei asked.

"Please put me back in the second quarter."

"I'm sorry, but I can't do that, young man," Coach Xu Wei said. "You still haven't recovered. Your plays are not going to cut it."

"You don't understand, coach!" Aiden exclaimed, much louder than most had anticipated.

"My life is on the line here."
