Chapter 59: Chapter 50 Harvest of the Villa District! _1

The courtyard gate was locked with a latch as thick as a child’s arm. The two high steel-reinforced concrete outer walls, at least three meters tall and appearing to be nearly fifty centimeters thick, were covered with vegetation like creeping ivy.

Li Ming effortlessly vaulted over the iron gate into the yard and walked to the villa’s front door. Upon finding it locked, he frowned slightly. Then he took two steps back and noticed a glass window on the third floor of the villa.

After some consideration, Li Ming set down his heavy crowbar and backpack. He placed his rifle on the ground, strapped only his long sword to his side, and then sprinted forward. Pushing off against the wall with one foot, he used both hands to hoist himself up onto a concrete slab protruding from the second floor. Then, summoning all his strength, he clambered up another story to the window on the third floor.

He tugged on the window, pushing it on both sides, but it didn’t budge. Apparently, it was locked.

Li Ming shook his head in disappointment, then with a burst of psychokinetic energy, shattered the glass.

“Clatter~”

The glass window shattered instantly. Although psychokinetics was convenient, Li Ming had previously discovered that while it allowed him to perceive his surroundings without physical obstruction, it could not exert force through barriers.

Psychokinetic perception worked much like a wave, able to penetrate walls and barriers. However, when wielding it as a force, it behaved more like a line, requiring direct line-of-sight to be effective. Despite the regret of having to break the window, this was his only option.

Having cleared away the glass shards, Li Ming crouched through the window and into the room.

“Thump~”

Taking in his surroundings, Li Ming realized he’d landed in a study. Art pieces hung on the walls and vases and a computer adorned the interior with a number of books on the desk.

This window must have been designed to offer a great view, hence its large size.

“Hehehe…”

While scanning the room, he heard the growls of zombies on the third floor of the villa, accompanied by the sound of footsteps, clearly indicating the undead had noticed the commotion and were now mobilizing.

Li Ming drew his sword without haste, positioning himself inside the study door and waiting.

Soon, a paunchy zombie in silk pajamas and three female zombies in provocative attire rushed to the outside of the study door, becoming even more frenzied when they smelled human scent.

“Shh…”

Li Ming lunged forward, stabbing his sword into the eye socket of a zombie and into its brain. The first zombie to squeeze in immediately collapsed, so he quickly stepped back and dispatched the second one with another thrust.

Then he promptly retreated further into the study. The third zombie, snarling angrily, pursued him and met the same fate.

Li Ming glanced around, saw highball glasses on a desk, and took two as he exited the study. The luxurious living room decorated with a variety of wall paintings and ornaments left him momentarily in awe.

He shook his head in wonder at the opulence of the wealthy, then proceeded to search the dozen rooms on the third floor, including the study and bathrooms, eliminating two more zombies but encountering no other issues.

While the luxurious bedrooms, mahjong room, storage room, billiard room, gym, and entertainment room on this floor filled Li Ming with envy, he was comforted by the fact that this house was now his to inhabit freely, a thought that quickly dispelled his envy and brought a smile to his face.

“After dealing with the zombies on the third floor, it’s time to check the first and second floors.”

Li Ming, satisfied with his sweep of the third floor and seeing no more zombies, began to descend the non-slip staircase. He thought even the design of this staircase was more impressive than that of his previous dwelling.

Upon reaching the second floor, Li Ming found and easily dispatched two zombies wearing white scarves. After that, the villa was devoid of any more of the undead. He then carefully inspected the entire villa. The second floor housed a wide variety of wines and paintings; it seemed the entire floor was dedicated to collectibles.

The first floor contained a kitchen and a large refrigerator filled with various foods. Unfortunately, most of the food had spoiled since the refrigerator had stopped functioning.

While wandering around the first floor, Li Ming paid no attention to the luxurious items. That was until he spotted something in a small room that caught his eye.

A water pump, and tubing!

“There really is a water source underneath!”

Li Ming was thrilled at the sight of the water pump. Looking at the water pipe which extended downwards, he was confident that it led to an underground water source!

The only unfortunate thing was the absence of electricity, making it impossible to test the operation of the water pump. However, his two generators would arrive soon, so he was not overly concerned about this. As long as there was a water pump, one major survival challenge–obtaining water resources–could be solved!

“As long as there’s water, everything will be fine. Next, I’ll check out the other houses in this villa complex for safety risks.”

Li Ming’s eyes sparkled as he returned to the third floor. He rummaged through a bedroom and before long, discovered a card attached to a metal key labeled as the ‘front door’. He deduced this to be the access card and key to the villa’s main gate.

Just as Li Ming was about to use the key to open the door and leave the study, he noticed a long wooden case behind the writing desk.

Two elegant characters were engraved on the wooden box: Dragon Spring.

“Dragon Spring? Could there possibly be a sword inside?”

The source of this c𝐨ntent is freeweɓnovēl.coɱ.

Thoughts raced through Li Ming’s head as he curiously turned around and opened the box. A high-quality long sword immediately came into view.

His eyes lit up. Immediately, he picked up the sheathed long sword, which was two or three times heavier than his own, and even longer by a section.

Unable to resist, he unsheathed the sword, a surge of firm sharpness rushed towards him.

“Hum…”

He gave the body of the sword a firm touch. The metallic humming echoed in sight and he could clearly feel it was an incredibly firm and good sword, at the very least, much better than the one he had, that was worth over a hundred.

Moreover, it was sharpened!

“This sword is quite good.”

A smile emerged on Li Ming’s lips, he couldn’t help reflecting how good the things of the rich were!

He looked at his own sword, decisively put it down, and, holding this sharp long sword, turned to go downstairs.

Once he got to the ground floor, he opened the door from inside. Li Ming tried the card, sure enough, it was a door access card.

“Not bad.”

Looking at the villa in front of him, Li Ming wore a smile on his lips, he raised his new sword, picked up the weapons he’d left on the ground earlier, opened the gate with a key, stepped out and locked it from outside.

He put the villa keys into the backpack, thus officially claiming that the villa was his.

Next, he rode his electric scooter along the road towards the first villa on the right side. Li Ming noticed that the windows of this villa were open, thereby making breaking in even easier. Armed with the brand new sword, he easily vanquished the zombies within and finally left, a hint of satisfaction on his face, holding a key ring marked with [Right 1].

“This sword is indeed handy.”

As he left the Right 1 Villa, Li Ming held up the long sword vertically in front of his eyes and looked at it, a smile involuntarily graced his face. He had just killed zombies and had noticeably felt more at ease, befitting a longer and firmer sword.

Though it weighed more than his previous sword, the higher quality compensated for it. Moreover, he now had the strength to effortlessly wield this heavy long sword.

Looking at the one and a third-meter-long sword, he felt even more pleased.

After putting away the long sword, Li Ming continued riding his tricycle to explore the remaining villas.

Left 2, Right 2.

Left 3, Right 3.

“…”

The entire Linjiang Villa complex can be roughly divided into two rows with each villa over a hundred meters apart from each other, facing a villa directly across.

Li Ming explored one by one and gradually finished scouting all of the sixteen villas in the complex. The spoils from these villas brought him immense joy.

In one villa, there was an archery range which provided him with dozens of bows spanning from ancient reflex bows to modern ones. Some of the bows seemed more like collector’s items, even he struggled to pull them.

Apart from that, there were stacks of assorted types of arrows!

In another villa, there was a collection of all sorts of steel armor, modern bulletproof vests, and various types of cold weapons like swords and spears. Li Ming immediately put on a set of modern lightweight bulletproof vests and protective gear like knee pads and elbow pads.

In the backyard of another villa, there was an alpaca and a swan. Perhaps they were being raised as pets. Li Ming regarded them with importance, as these were live sources of meat.

In another villa, he discovered a very powerful crossbow with corresponding arrows which he happily claimed.

One of the villas had a swimming pool, another had a modified vehicle, yet another had a modified RV…

Moreover, every villa had an underground water channel!

When Li Ming left the villa complex, driving a security patrol scooter with a keyring of villa keys on his back, his face was beaming with joy.

“Including courtyards and public areas, this villa complex covers at least a hundred acres. If all this land can be cultivated…”

Leaving, Li Ming looked at the villa complex in front of his eyes. His thoughts immediately went back to the settlement he’d seen earlier.

This place needs people to work on!
