Solo Mission

0501: Thank you for your clarification and advice manager. We will do that.

Chu Miao exited the group chat and turned to look at the thermometer hanging on the living room wall. It showed a temperature of 44°. Chu Miao knew that because of the air conditioner, the temperature indoors was lower than outside.

So, if it is 44° indoors, how high is it outside?

To determine the real temperature, she took another thermometer and headed towards the window.

The windows were closed and covered with light-blocking curtains to prevent the harsh ultraviolet rays from getting into the house.

They were cultivating in the space most of the time, but they still needed to be careful.

She pulled back the curtain and was hit by an extremely brilliant light, and the heat almost made her close the curtains instinctively.

She had not even opened the window and was already thinking about giving up. But she stilled her heart and opened the window.

Heat came rushing to her face making her think she had developed burn blisters on the spot.

It was an uncomfortable heat that would challenge any human.

This kind of heat could cause dehydration in minutes. She wondered whether those who had not bought enough water when stocking up on supplies and were too timid to go out and scavenge had died of dehydration.

After sticking the thermometer out for a minute and hearing a beeping sound she pulled it back and quickly shut the window and closed the curtains.

She returned to the living room and sat close to the air conditioner to get rid of that excess heat.

When she lowered her head to look at the thermometer readings she was so shocked that she almost dropped the thermometer.

The temperature was clearly 45° that morning; it was only 11.00 am, not even noon yet, and the temperature had reached 50°.

Was this finally the extreme heat she read about in the apocalypse novels before?

She had always thought it was exaggerated but didn't expect to experience it herself.

This was beyond what she had thought when reading those novels.

It was really too hot.

Chu Miao teleported back to her room and turned on the electric fan placed there to assist the air conditioner.

She had been cultivating too hard recently, and today, she decided to take a break.

Unfortunately, she was the only one who did because everyone else thought it was a disgrace to have the youngest member of the family be the strongest.

They had almost turned into cultivation maniacs trying to catch up to her.

She left them in the space and came out to relax not expecting things to have escalated.

As she lay down on the bed, she thought of the mutated rat her brother had hit with a car before. Was it an isolated case or were there more?

New novel chapters are published on freewёbn૦νeɭ.com.

Apart from that one rat, they had not encountered any more mutated animals, but her gut told her that things were not that simple.

She figured that if the temperature would reduce at night, then she could take advantage of that time to go out and survey.

She wanted to check if she would find another mutated animal or not.

Moreover, since they hadn't gone out to kill zombies for a few days, she was itching for a fight. She wanted to stretch her muscles and measure her strength compared to those of the current zombies.

As she was still thinking about all those messy things, her eyes grew heavy and she drifted off to sleep.

When Chu Miao woke up again it was already 7.00 o'clock at night. She had slept for so long showing how much her body needed rest.

However, when she stretched she realized that she was more energized than ever before.

'Tonight, I must go kill some zombies' she silently promised herself. She went into the bathroom to freshen up and took some chicken salad and tortillas from the fridge. She made herself a chicken salad wrap and had that for dinner. She checked in on her family and found that they were still cultivating. She didn't bother them and sat around browsing the internet for a while before setting off.

The internet was filled with the same type of news and posts. People were asking others to help them collect supplies and they would pay. Others were talking about how the zombies were now running faster than Bolt.

It was nothing new. But she couldn't understand how, even after the government issued a call for people to go out and fight zombies, others were still hiding at home three weeks after the apocalypse started.

What did they mean they would pay for others to bring them supplies? What use is money now?

It was not even as useful as tissue paper.

At 8.00 o'clock, Chu Miao got up and went back to her bedroom. She changed into breathable cargo pants and a sweat-absorbing short-sleeved t-shirt. On her feet, she opted for lightweight, breathable sneakers. The outfit was both light and comfortable even in this heat. Moreover, underneath these clothes, she had a constant temperature bodysuit.

She hung a Tang sword on her waist like she did in her previous life when she went to battle and carried a large army backpack on her back.

After making preparations, she left her house at 8.30pm and headed out.

Her destination was a medium-sized mall in the outer area of the city center.

She chose that location because she could collect some supplies if the place had not been raided and cleaned by other survivors or the military.

What's more, even though the mall was near the city center, it wasn't completely in it, which means there was less traffic when the first wave of zombies hit.

Thus, there won't be too many zombies to overwhelm her such that even if she couldn't fight she couldn't run either.

It was the perfect spot for a solo mission.
