"I'll go cook dinner. Let's not finish the stock of cooked food we have kept so early into the apocalypse." Mother Chu said as she got up and went into the kitchen.

"I think we should cook even more food to store when we have the time. We don't know what this apocalypse will look like tomorrow. So, it's better to always be prepared." Chu Miao gave a suggestion as she got up and followed her mother into the kitchen to help with dinner preparations.

Grandpa Chu, Father Chu, Chu Hao, and the butler remained in the living room as they talked about cultivation and shared about what enlightenment they had experienced.

Grandpa Chu still wanted to enter seclusion that night after getting some enlightenment that morning.

While they were talking, a knock came from the door.

Even though they had installed a security door at the stairwell, the elevator was still functioning and people could still come up to their top floor.

However, they had not interacted with many people since they moved to the penthouse apartment. So, they wondered who had paid them a visit.

"I'll go take a look." Chu Hao stood up and walked towards the door. He pressed the security screen next to the door that showed the image of the person outside the door.

The security camera was hidden on the ceiling in the corridor at the top of their door. It was something Chu Miao had suggested having to avoid opening the door to hostile survivors by mistake.

"It's Ye Xuan." Chu Hao shouted towards the living room after seeing the image of the person on the screen.

"Then what are you waiting for? Hurry up and open the door for him. What a clumsy boy. You already know who it is and still have the time to report instead of inviting him into the house." Grandpa Chu was fuming.

How did their family produce such a dumb human?

Although he was angry with his disappointing descendant, grandpa Chu was happy that Ye Xuan had finally visited their house.

As he was smiling to himself, Ye Xuan was invited into the living room.

"Good evening Grandpa Chu. Good evening second grandpa Chu." Ye Xuan first greeted the two elderly men.

The butler smiled because it was the first time someone had called him with the Chu surname.

His surname was actually Cheng, but that no longer mattered as he had chosen to follow his comrade in arms and friend since they left the battlefield.

"Good evening Xiao Xuan. Come and have a seat." Grandpa Chu invited him warmly then turned to Chu Hao.

"What are you doing standing there like a statue? Go pour Xiao Xuan water. Have been kicked in the head by zombies and can no longer think of something so simple?"

Hearing his grandfather berate him for no reason, Chu Hao felt aggrieved.

"Grandpa, am I really your biological grandson? I didn't do anything and you are already scolding me." He said with an aggrieved voice as he stood up to pour water for the guest.

"I actually wish you were not my biological grandson, then I can just kick you to the curb. Who wants such an unreliable grandson like you? Having my little Bunny is enough." Grandpa Chu retorted without giving him any face at all.

"Mhm!! All of you only care about Bunny. Why don't I disappear for one week and see if you don't run around looking for me." Chu Hao was not to be outdone and also fought back.

"If it was Bunny who disappeared then...." Father Chu started, but before he could finish he was hit in the head with a slipper and Chu Hao was looking at him with malicious eyes. Even the butler was eyeing him with disapproval.

"Go on and finish that sentence. See if I don't disown you as my son." Grandpa Chu almost roared with anger.

"How could you joke about something like that dad?" Chu Hao also said with a gloomy expression on his face.

The butler didn't say anything, but his eyes that were as sharp as knives said everything.

"I wasn't going to say anything bad. How could I ever say something inauspicious about Bunny? I just wanted to tell this boy that he could disappear for a week, but Bunny can't even disappear for an hour." Chu Mo really felt aggrieved. His father didn't even care that his future son-in-law was sitting there before he hit him.

"You should have spoken fast then. Why were you so slow in your speech." Grandpa Chu didn't even feel sorry for having wronged his son. He just glossed over the issue and it was forgotten.

Ye Xuan watched as the family fought and was a little envious. Only if the family members were really close would they have such interactions.

Also, seeing how everyone, including the butler reacted after the little girl was mentioned, he felt happy and scared at the same time.

He wanted her. Wanted her to be his other half, his wife. And he wanted her to be with him very badly.

However, seeing how protective of her the family was, he knew that he had to treat her like a treasure in the future.

Not that he had any plans of treating her otherwise. Looking at this family, he longed to be a part of such a beautiful family too.

"Sorry Xiao Xuan for seeing such embarrassing actions in our family." Grandpa Chu apologized after he was done glaring at his son.

"No need to apologize to grandpa Chu. It's good to see such a scene, where a family values each other so much." Ye Xuan wasn't offended for being ignored. He was happy that the family felt comfortable enough with him around to reveal such a scene to him.

He also knew that the scene was meant to tell him the importance of the treasure he was coveting in their life. Since he understood this, he wasn't going to fuss about anything.

Besides, he was the one who showed up uninvited.
