Apocalypse: I Built the Infinite Train-Chapter 152: Federal Law
Yubei City No. 1 Spaceport – Aircraft Inner Dock
A large Federation operation airship was docked at the inner bay, alongside several smaller aircraft. The engines of the airship were already idling in standby mode, while numerous Federation Investigation Team members in black suits were escorting a group of special citizens aboard.
“Director Taylor, things have already gotten this bad—why aren’t we taking off yet?!”
A middle-aged man with streaks of black and white in his hair, his expression cold and sinister, sat in a wheelchair, pushed forward by a bodyguard. The powerful turbulence from the massive aircraft's aerodynamic flows made the hems of everyone’s clothes tremble. His face was twisted with rage as he questioned Taylor Moreno, who was sending messages on her mobile terminal.
Taylor Moreno glanced up at him. "Senator Zhou, please return to the airship immediately. We cannot risk taking off until the airspace threats have been neutralized."
"Absurd! What about the Iron Guard Battalion, the Security Regiment, and—damn it—all the air defense systems in this spaceport?! The Federation spent a fortune maintaining them, so why aren’t they clearing the airspace for us?!" Senator Zhou ranted hysterically. "A bunch of incompetent fools! Get this ship in the air, or you’ll be out of a job!"
Taylor let out a disdainful chuckle and replied calmly, "The Iron Guard Battalion refused to escort us. But I have overridden the spaceport system with my Federation clearance. The air defense weapons will clear a path for us. So, I suggest you stop wasting time here."
Senator Zhou’s expression darkened, his gaze shifting. He gritted his teeth and said impatiently, "Hmph! Then hurry up. If you delay me any longer, all of you can get the hell out!"
“All flight squads, prepare for takeoff.” Taylor handed her mobile device to her subordinate and issued the command.
“Yes, ma’am.”

Just then, the sound of rushed footsteps echoed through the bay. Taylor turned her head and saw Bai Shuang leading a group of emergency response team members and Iron Guard soldiers toward her—each of them wearing an expression of fury.
“Security Regiment!”
At her call, dozens of armed security officers immediately stepped forward, raising their weapons.
“How dare you do this?!” Bai Shuang ignored the guns pointed at her, storming forward in rage. "There are over ten thousand survivors here! Do you understand the consequences of what you’ve done?!"
Taylor stepped back slightly, letting the security officers block her front. Adjusting her glasses, she sneered, "According to Federation Law Article 332, all armed forces must ensure full escort measures for government officials’ aircraft. I’m simply following protocol."
Bai Shuang’s eyes burned with fury. "**Did you conveniently forget Federation Law Article 1—the life, property, and freedom of all citizens take precedence over everything else?!"
Taylor laughed coldly, pointing at the massive airship behind her.
"Do you even know who’s on board?"
The escalating conflict quickly drew the attention of the survivors in the plaza. Upon recognizing the Federation Investigation Team, the crowd grew increasingly agitated. When they overheard the argument, their fury boiled over.
"What?! They disabled the air defense system… just to escort themselves?!"
"What the f*?!**"
"You bastards! I'll f*ing kill you!**"
"Slaughter them all!!"
Angry survivors began raising their guns, forcing the Security Regiment members to form a tight wall around Taylor Moreno and Senator Zhou, preventing the mob from rushing forward.
Meanwhile, Shu Qin, Xu Jin, and Old Mo were already covered in bloodstains, their weapons overused and scorched from battle. Yet, now they were being stabbed in the back by their own people. It was impossible not to feel rage.
Senator Zhou’s face grew even darker. He discreetly signaled his bodyguard, preparing to retreat.
Facing the storm of curses, Taylor Moreno snapped, "I advise you all to stop wasting your breath! This entire spaceport is Federation property. Do you seriously think these weapons and walls were built with your money?!"
She trembled with frustration, her voice rising. "The people on this airship are the most valuable assets of human civilization. It is everyone’s duty to prioritize their safety—"
BANG!
A gunshot ripped through the night, bringing the tense standoff to an abrupt halt.
Everyone's eyes widened in shock.
Taylor Moreno—who had been shouting furiously just a moment ago—now had a perfectly round bullet hole in her forehead.
Blood trickled down from between her brows.
Her expression was frozen in disbelief.
Then— THUD.
She collapsed backward, lifeless.

Heavy footsteps echoed through the silent bay.
The crowd instinctively parted, making way for a figure—Iron Guard Battalion Commander Zhang Dingzhong—flanked by his adjutants.
Senator Zhou’s face twisted in horror as he glanced at Taylor’s corpse, then at Zhang. He gritted his teeth and snarled, "General Zhang! How dare you fire on a Federation official?! Are you declaring war on the—"
BANG!
Zhang Dingzhong wordlessly raised his handgun and blew Senator Zhou’s head apart.
“Bastard.”
His bullets were precise, straight through the forehead—no hesitation.
Senator Zhou’s bodyguard stood frozen, his face splattered with blood. He looked down—Zhou's body had slumped over in his wheelchair, mouth agape, bowels released. He was dead beyond dead.
Screams erupted inside the airship as passengers panicked at the gunfire.
Even the furious survivors outside froze in shock.
Onboard the Dragon Mountain No. 1, Shi Diyuan widened his eyes in satisfaction. Meanwhile, on the Silver Star, Jian Xuwei and Jian Zeyang exchanged uneasy glances.
Zhang Dingzhong strode toward Security Regiment Captain Zhan Wei, his sharp eyes narrowing.
“Zhan Wei. When you served under me, did I ever teach you to point a gun at women and children?”
“Commander, I…”
Zhan Wei lowered his head, his expression full of conflict. The Security Regiment soldiers around him immediately lowered their weapons—they had never wanted to aim at civilians in the first place.
Zhang ignored him and walked forward. He stopped beside Taylor’s corpse, looking down at her terrified deputy.
"You have three minutes to take off."
“Wh-what?!”
The deputy’s face turned deathly pale, and the other Federation officials scrambled toward the airship.
“Go! Hurry! We’re leaving!”
On board, Zhao Yan and Xu Wen clutched their computer bags, faces tense. Seeing the airship finally lifting off, they sighed in relief.
“God, I thought they were going to shoot us…”
“Phew… At least we’re taking off now…”
HOOOOOM…
The airship fleet ascended into the night sky.
From the window, Zhao Yan gazed at the black armored train stationed on the rail platform, eyes flickering.
“Director Ding… what a shame…”
Zhang Dingzhong turned to Bai Shuang.
“What’s the situation?”
“Bad.” Bai Shuang’s face was grim. "We never expected them to pull something like this. It completely disrupted our plans."
Scientist Wei let out a bitter sigh. "This access was authorized by the original Federation. Our only options are negotiation or rewriting the system."
The spaceport was in crisis. Their only lifeline was now cut off.
The air grew heavy.
Just then—
“There’s still one way!”
A loud voice rang from the back of the crowd.
Everyone turned.
Lin Xian and KIKI rushed forward, faces filled with urgency.
“Lin Captain!”
Scientist Wei’s eyes lit up. "Wait—can you rewrite the system?!"
“No.” Lin Xian shook his head. "But I have a plan."
"In two hours, I can get everyone to the High-Altitude Corridor."
