Alpha's mate is a male?!?-Chapter 95: Deal With The Devil.
Chapter 95: Deal With The Devil.
The cries of the wolves echo through the mansion, their pain thick in the air. The scent of sweat and sickness clings to everything, pressing down on Ace’s chest like a weight.
Jun stands rigid beside him, his hands clenched into fists. Rey, still sitting, rubs a hand over his face, his breathing uneven.
Marsel and Elira move between the wolves, checking pulses, wiping sweat from trembling foreheads, whispering reassurances they can’t promise to keep.
The doors creak open.
A gust of cold air sweeps through the room as a group of unfamiliar wolves step inside.
Ace tenses immediately, his senses sharpening, eyes snapping to the entrance. The warriors nearest to the door, weak as they are, react on instinct, low growls rumbling from their chests.
Then, he steps forward.
Rehan.
Tall, poised, confident.
His presence alone is enough to pull all attention toward him. He walks in like he belongs here, his piercing gaze sweeping across the sick wolves before settling on Ace.
Ace stiffens.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Jun growls, moving slightly in front of Ace.
Rehan lifts his hands, a peaceful gesture, his expression calm. "Relax. I’m not here to fight."
Jun doesn’t move. "Then leave."
Rehan ignores him.
His gaze drifts back to the wolves
_watching, analyzing. His brows knit together, and he exhales, shaking his head. "So it’s true."
Ace narrows his eyes. "What!?"
Rehan shakes his head. "Word spreads fast. Your pack is suffering." He pauses, tilting his head slightly, studying Ace. "And I assume no one has figured out why."
No one speaks.
Rehan’s lips press together as if he’s considering something. Then, he exhales sharply. "I’ve seen this before."
A heavy silence falls over the room.
Ace’s pulse jumps. "What do you mean?"
Rehan meets his gaze steadily. "This disease_ it’s not natural. I’ve encountered something similar in the past."
Ace doesn’t blink. "And?"
Rehan steps closer. His movements are slow, deliberate, as if he’s showing he means no harm. His voice softens just slightly. "I might know how to fix it."
Jun scoffs, crossing his arms. "Right. How convenient."
Rehan’s gaze flicks to him, but instead of anger, there’s something else
_understanding, patience. His expression shifts, almost regretful. "I get it," he says. "I wouldn’t trust me either."
"I know what I’ve done in the past," Rehan continues, his tone even. "Fighting Kieran, going against him_ I won’t deny any of it. I made mistakes." He pauses. "But I’m not that person anymore. I decided to be contented with what I have, and leave what I can’t have."
Rey watches him carefully, not saying a word.
Rehan exhales, shaking his head. "I’ve had time to reflect. To think. Kieran is gone now, and I’m not here to take his place. I don’t want war with this pack anymore." His eyes lock onto Ace’s. "I just want to help."
Ace doesn’t move. Doesn’t breathe.
It sounds too easy. Too perfect.
Jun doesn’t buy it for a second. "And why the sudden change of heart?"
Rehan’s eyes flicker toward Ace. "Some things are more important than power."
The way he says it_ the way his voice lowers, the way his gaze lingers_ Ace knows exactly what he means.
Jun notices too. His body tenses, his hand balling into a fist at his side.
Ace swallows, forcing himself to focus. "If you know how to fix this, then tell us how."
Rehan hesitates. "I can’t."
Ace’s patience snaps. "Then why the hell are you here if you can’t!?"
Rehan doesn’t flinch at the sharpness in his voice. "Because I can get the cure," he says slowly. "But you have to come with me." fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
The room goes still.
Jun’s reaction is instant. "No. That’s not happening! You are sick in the head, Rehan! You think we don’t see through your little games?! Ace is not going anywhere with you! And if he has to... then we’re coming along!"
Rey shifts, his expression tightening. "Why? Why does he have to go with you?!"
Rehan sighs. "The source of this disease isn’t something that can be cured with herbs or potions. It’s... older. More complicated. It requires something only Ace can retrieve."
The way he says it_ it almost sounds logical. Almost.
Ace exhales, frustration burning in his chest. "I only can retrieve?! And why is that?"
Rehan tilts his head slightly, his eyes holding something unreadable. "Because you have the capability to do it, Ace. Why else?"
Ace stiffens.
Marsel and Elira exchange glances.
Jun steps forward, his voice dropping. "If you think we’re just going to hand Ace over to you, you’re delusional."
Rehan’s lips twitch, almost amused. "I don’t expect you to hand him over, Jun. I expect him to decide."
Ace’s pulse pounds in his ears. He looks at the wolves around him, the ones barely standing, the ones crying in pain.
If Rehan is telling the truth_ if he can fix this_ how can he refuse? It’s his responsibility, he has to save then, he has to take risks for them.
Even if Rehan is up to something else, Ace knows he can protect himself, so why not rist?
Jun glares at Ace, knowing exactly what Ace will do, "Ace, don’t." he warns.
Ace swallows hard. He knows he shouldn’t trust Rehan. But if there’s even a chance to save the pack...
His voice is steady when he speaks. "I’ll go."
Jun stiffens. Rey exhales sharply. Marsel and Elira remain quiet, but their concern is clear. "If you must, then we are going with you!" Marsel declares.
Rehan watches him, a hint of something softer in his gaze. "You’re making the right choice, Ace. I get why you people can’t trust me, but I don’t have any bad intention. No one has to follow, I’ll protect him."
Ace doesn’t know if that’s true.
But he’s out of options.
And as Rehan’s lips curl into the faintest, most fleeting smirk before it disappears
_Ace wonders if he just made the biggest mistake of his life.
They want to follow but Ace assures them that he can protect himself. That he wants to then to take care of the pack until he comes back.
