Chapter 175: You’ll Always be enough for me.

The flash drive is connected, and the screen flickers before displaying the first image- Blake Crawford.

Gasps fill the room.

The image shows her in her transformed state, half-werewolf, her eyes wild and glowing.

But what’s most unsettling is that she’s wearing the same clothes as when she was human, proving beyond doubt that they are the same person.

A few murmurs ripple through the detectives, but before they can process it, the screen shifts.

Videos begin playing, taken from Adele Crawford’s hidden laboratory.

The footage is disturbing.

Dimly lit rooms filled with high-tech equipment. Glass enclosures, some empty, some containing people who appear weak and malnourished, their wrists bound.

Some are screaming, others are barely conscious. Scientists in lab coats move through the space, taking notes, injecting substances into their captives, and monitoring their reactions.

One clip shows a woman thrashing on a table, her body convulsing as a strange liquid is forced into her veins.

Her screams echo through the speakers. Another video shows men in uniforms dragging someone out of a cage, their face hidden but their cries of terror unmistakable.

The room is silent except for the sound of the recordings playing.

A deep sense of anger and disgust fills the air.

The detectives stiffen, their hands curling into fists. Even Kieran, who had already seen and knows all that still keeps the expression, visibly tenses, his jaw tightening as he watches the horrifying reality unfold before them.

But honestly, he hates it too, and wants to make Adele suffer for what she did to those people. She Also killed Marsel, and that-- she is going to pay too.

Lucy, standing closest to Kieran, presses a hand over her mouth. "Oh my god..." she whispers.

One of the other detectives, an older man, swears under his breath. "This is sick," he mutters. "She’s been doing this under everyone’s noses?"

Another detective, his face flushed with rage, turns to Kieran. "Sir, what do we do about this? Should we inform the press?"

Kieran, still staring at the screen, shakes his head. "No. Not yet." His voice is sharp and decisive. "If Mrs. Crawford sees the news, she’ll run. We need to get hold of her first, then we release this to the public." His gaze hardens. "Get in action. Find her immediately. Bring her in. She must be working with other people, find them too!"

The moment he gives the order, the room erupts into movement.

Detectives rush out, their radios buzzing as they start giving commands, gathering teams to track Adele Crawford down. free𝑤ebnovel.com

Only a few people remain in the room- Kieran, Ace, Jun, Rey, and two detectives who haven’t left yet.

Kieran turns to Ace, his eyes unreadable.

"What did you say your name is again?" he asks, his voice taking on a formal tone. "Ah... Right. Mr. Carter," Kieran says, pretending to have just remembered.

His gaze sharpens slightly before he gestures toward his office. "Can I have a moment with you? I need to discuss this case with you in my office. If you don’t mind."

The two remaining detectives glance at each other, seeming curious but saying nothing.

Ace swallows and nods. "Of course."

Kieran gathers the documents and the flash drive, turning on his heel and walking toward his office. Ace follows, his steps careful.

Just before they disappear through the door, Kieran throws a glance at Jun and Rey, brief but meaningful.

Jun and Rey subtly nod back.

--

The moment Kieran opens the door and Ace steps inside, Kieran wastes no time locking it behind them.

The sharp click of the lock echoes through the room, a barrier separating them from the world outside.

Without a second thought, Kieran strides forward, throwing the files onto his desk carelessly before reaching for Ace.

Before Ace can react, he finds himself pinned against the wall, his back pressing against the cold surface.

Kieran leans in close, his tall frame towering over him, his warm palm gently caressing Ace’s cheek.

The tenderness in his touch contrasts with the intensity of his hold.

"What’s wrong?" Kieran asks, his voice soft, his thumb tracing slow circles on Ace’s cheek. "Are you alright? Are you feeling unsettled about how this will turn out?" His voice holds genuine concern, eyes searching Ace’s face for an answer.

Ace swallows hard. He isn’t sure if it’s the warmth of Kieran’s hand, the proximity between them, or the mixture of emotions swirling inside him, but something makes his breath hitch.

He wants to push past this moment, focus on what matters- the case, Adele, the people suffering, justice for his parents. But this... this is something he can’t ignore.

"What do you think?" Ace mutters, his voice sharp. Without hesitation, he removes Kieran’s arm from his face and steps out of his hold, putting space between them.

Kieran watches him, brows furrowing slightly. "Why are you suddenly mad at me? Did I do something?" His voice is laced with confusion.

Ace exhales through his nose, shaking his head. Ignoring the question, he says, "If we’re going to bring Adele behind bars, then we also need to deal with those men she’s working with. They..."

Kieran doesn’t let him finish. "We’re not talking about anything else before you tell me why you’re mad at me." His voice is firm but almost coaxing, as if he’s determined to pull the answer from Ace no matter what.

Ace clenches his fists.

He doesn’t want to have this conversation. "When did I say I’m mad at you?" he asks. "We have important things to deal with, or are you waiting for the situation to escalate before you take it seriously?"

"Yeah, right... You haven’t said it, but you don’t have to say it for me to know you are actually mad at me. So come on, help me understand." Kieran says.

The words leave Ace’s mouth before he even thinks about them. "Do you miss a woman’s touch? After all, you were never gay before our mate bond."

Kieran’s expression shifts, his entire body going still as he processes what Ace just said.

Shock flashes across his face for a brief moment before it’s replaced by something unreadable. "What the hell are you talking about?" Kieran asks, his voice steady, but there’s a hint of frustration beneath it, frustration he’s trying not to show.

Ace exhales sharply, crossing his arms over his chest. "Weren’t you standing there enjoying that woman’s touch? Letting her brush against you without saying a damn thing? Since when does the great Alpha Kieran entertain such nonsense?"

Kieran blinks. "Are you seriously saying this to me, Ace?" His voice is low now, edged with disbelief.

"Yes," Ace snaps, his frustration boiling over. "Now that you know why I feel like this, why don’t we focus on the more important things rather than our desires?"

Kieran’s brows furrow. "Desires?" His voice rises slightly, laced with evident frustrations now. "What desires? I do not have desires for a woman, because you are the only thing that plays on my mind all the ti..."

Ace doesn’t let him finish. He turns sharply, reaching for the doorknob, his frustration clouding his thoughts. He just wants to get out of here, away from this ridiculous conversation.

But before he can pull the door open, Kieran moves.

The door slams shut with a loud thud as Kieran shoves it closed, his hand pressed flat against the surface. In the same swift motion, he grabs Ace’s wrist and pulls him back inside.

"What? Let go of me!" Ace huffs, trying to pull away.

"Where do you think you are going? We’re not done with this yet. Why are you getting mad just because of that stupid thing that doesn’t mean a damn thing? Do you need assurance that I only have desire for you?" Kieran’s voice is sharper now, frustration spilling over. His grip on Ace isn’t tight enough to hurt, but it’s firm enough to hold him still.

Ace glares up at him, his breathing uneven.

Kieran’s gaze darkens. "How do you want to be proven to, huh?" His voice lowers, intensity crackling in the air between them. "Should I make love to you in the morning, in the afternoon and at night? Neglect our duties just so we can spend the whole day touching each other until you know your touch is the only one that matters? Until you understand that no one else could ever compare?"

Ace’s eyes widen slightly. His breath catches in his throat, not just from Kieran’s words but from the sheer force of emotion behind them.

"What the fuck are you saying to me right now?" Ace asks, his voice rough, his anger flaring up again. How dare Kieran say something like that to him?

"Exactly, Ace," Kieran snaps. "What the fuck are you too saying to me right now? Whatever got you mad didn’t mean a damn thing! And to answer your question- no, I am not missing or desiring a woman’s touch, because the love I have for you wouldn’t even let me imagine myself with someone else. Be it a man or woman."

"Then why did you entertain her like that?" His voice isn’t as sharp now, but it still carries the weight of his emotions.

"My bad," Kieran says immediately, shaking his head. "Because I didn’t even notice what she was trying to do. And I’m sorry if that made you think for even a second that I actually want a woman." His gaze softens slightly. "Because you will always be enough for me."

Ace goes still. He has nothing to say anymore. He wants to hold onto his frustration, but it’s slipping away, melting under the sincerity in Kieran’s voice.

Silence lingers between them.

Then, without warning, Kieran steps closer, wrapping his arms around Ace and pulling him into his chest.

Ace stiffens at first but doesn’t push him away.

"Don’t ever think things like that," Kieran murmurs, his voice barely above a whisper. His hold tightens just slightly, as if trying to anchor Ace to him, as if trying to prove through his touch that there’s no one else, no other desire, no other need.

Ace exhales slowly, his head resting against Kieran’s chest.

But before either of them can say another word...

Knock. Knock.

The sound startles them. The moment is gone. Reality crashes back in.
