Alpha's mate is a male?!?-Chapter 173: Unexpected attack
Chapter 173: Unexpected attack
All this time that has passed, Adele had spent countless nights working toward this moment.
She barely slept, pouring over every detail, every bit of research that could help her uncover the truth.
She had gathered allies, people who had seen things they shouldn’t have, people who suspected the world wasn’t as ordinary as they once believed.
One of them was Paul, a man with years of experience as a detective. Who had recently resigned from the DCI.
Together, Adele and her growing team had searched for anything that could reveal who is and isn’t a werewolf.
Poisonous substances, ancient texts, modern scientific studies, nothing was off-limits. They were determined to expose the truth, no matter the cost.
After a month of tracking movements, following patterns, and watching from the shadows, they finally found it.
Kieran’s mansion. The pack house.
They had done so much to get here, and now Adele and her team have become hunters, moving with a purpose.
~Armed with silver bullets and weapons designed to wound and kill, they slip into the tense evening, approaching the mansion with trained precision.
The evening air is so tense at the mansion , too quiet, as if the world itself held its breath.
Ace arrives at the pack house from taking his boyfriend to get the job, just as an uneasy feeling creeps over him.
Something is wrong. The air feels heavy, charged with something he can’t quite place.
He slows his steps, his senses on high alert, scanning the surroundings.
He hears movements, then catches sight if figures, he suddenly notes Adele’s face among them.
Ace’s breath hitches. She found them. Is she working with her own team or she is with all humans and police?!
For a moment, disbelief holds him frozen. How? How has she figured it out? How has she managed to track them down? How was she able to tell?! Ace had sent people to keep eyes on her, and she showed nothing suspicious.
But there is no time to question.
Without hesitation, Ace runs toward them.
Adele and team of five figures moving through the shadows, inching closer to the mansion.
As soon as he gets close, he does not give them even a second, he knows they are here to attack, and the pack is not expecting any of this.
He lets his powers flare, blue fire bursting from his chest with a force that sends Adele and her people flying backward.
Their weapons clatter to the ground, and they scramble to regain their footing.
Then comes the gunfire.
They fire silver bullets at him, but he doesn’t flinch. With a flick of his wrist, his blue flames rise like a shield, swallowing the bullets mid-air before they can reach him.
The fire roars, twisting and coiling like a living thing, ready to strike.
Ace doesn’t hold back.
The flames surge forward, forcing Adele and her team into retreat.
They cry out, shielding themselves as the heat becomes unbearable. The ground beneath them scorches, the air thickens with smoke.
It doesn’t take long for them to realize they can’t win this fight-- at least not now.
Adele grits her teeth, frustration flashing in her eyes, but even she knows when to fall back.
"Go!" she shouts to her team. At least she has confirmed that really there are supernatural being around.
But it confuses her since she didn’t read anywhere that werewolves have other powers like producing fire.
Was the young man still a werewolf or there are still other kinds of supernaturals other than werewolves?!
One by one, they turn and run, disappearing into the night.
Ace stands there, chest heaving, his flames slowly dying down. The scent of burnt earth lingers in the air, but his focus remains locked on the path where Adele and the five men have vanished.
He knows they are fucked up if Adele has figured them out and even found them that easily.
And they will be fucked up even more when Adele is not working alone, but with the whole crew of police, they will not have a chance.
He needs to find out, he needs to act, real fast.
He needs to warn the pack.
Spinning on his heel, he races toward the mansion.
Inside, everything seems normal. Too normal. The pack members laugh, talk, completely unaware of what just happened.
Ace bursts through the doors, his eyes blazing with urgency.
"Oh yeah? You people have the pleasure to neglect duties out there and stay in here to chat? Where are the guards!? Do you have any idea what is happening out there?! We almost got attacked! This is not the time to chat around! With everything going on, this is not the time! Or just because we caught Blake so now you thing everything is fine?!Adele is out there, with allies! They almost attacked us!" His voice cuts through the room, silencing conversations instantly.
All eyes have turned to him.
Rey and Jun walk in from Kieran’s study, bunch of documents in their hands. They exchange concerned glances before stepping forward.
"Ace? You alright? You look tense, What’s going on?" Jun asks, his brows furrowed. Concern evident.
"Adele," Ace says facing them. "She knows. She was just here, with a team of five men, they looked like hunters. They were armed, really armed, I caught one of the bullets they shot with and just realised it is silver, the one that killed my father, and this just tells us how much they now know of us, if they are aiming us with silver then they must know it kills us."
Shock ripples through the room. Whispers break out.
"She figured us out?" Rey’s voice is quiet, controlled, but his eyes burn with unspoken worry. "How comes? Is she working with police?"
"I don’t know. All I know is that she’s not alone." Ace scans the room, locking eyes with the strongest warriors. "We need to prepare. Right now. She will come back, now that she knows for sure that we exist and knows where we Are. And next time she might bring more people. Stronger weapons."
The weight of his words settles over them like a thick fog.
"Shit! Were we too slow? Are you still going to report her?" Jun asks.
Ace clenches his jaw. He’s already made up his mind. "Absolutely, just because she knows the truth, doesn’t mean people won’t believe that she is behind all that. Come on, where going to the police right now."
He walks to the room that Blake is in, he takes a picture of her, she’s furious, but thank heavens he hasn’t turned back to human form.
When he walks back to others, he pulls out his phone, quickly scrolling through his gallery.
His fingers tremble slightly as he selects a few pictures.
"Come on, Kieran us there already."
Jun nods. "Alright. Let’s go."
Ace doesn’t waste another second. He rushes out, Jun and Rey following closely. As they pile into the car, Ace grips the steering wheel tightly.
His mind spins with a thousand thoughts, but one thing is crystal clear.
This war has already begun.
And there’s no turning back.
On the way, Ace exhales sharply and pulls out his phone, dialing Kieran’s number. It rings only once before Kieran picks up.
"Hey, You got home?" Kieran’s voice come through the phone.
Ace doesn’t waste time. "Adele figured everything out, she even found the pack house."
Silence. For a heartbeat, there’s nothing but the distant hum of the road beneath the tires. Then, Kieran’s voice hardens. "What do you mean?"
"She has some other five men, I guess it’s her own little task force. I don’t know how, but they tracked down the mansion. I saw them sneaking in." Ace grips the wheel tighter, jaw clenched. "I didn’t think. I just reacted. I attacked them, scared them off before they could do any real damage. But Kieran... they know where we are now, and they know for sure we exist."
A sharp breath comes through the line, followed by a string of curses.
Ace continues, "We’re on our way to the police station now. We are still using her own wrongs against her."
"Ace..." Kieran’s voice is lower now, tinged with concern. "Are you okay? Did you get hurt? Did anyone get hurt?"
"I’m fine. Everyone is fine." Ace says, his voice is steady, but Kieran doesn’t sound convinced.
"You sure, I..."
"Kieran, I said we’re fine," Ace cuts in. "I need you to be ready. Just like make sure when we get there, we are going to be believed. We’re already on the way. Almost there, be ready for us any minute."
Kieran exhales. "Okay, Be careful."
Ace’s lips press into a thin line, his grip on the wheel relaxing just slightly. "Always."
The call ends. Ace lowers the phone, glancing briefly at Jun and Rey. They say nothing, but the tension in the car remains thick.
Then, without another word, Ace presses harder on the gas.
