Alpha's mate is a male?!?-Chapter 169: Ace’s Plan Takes Shape.
Chapter 169: Ace’s Plan Takes Shape.
The air around them is thick with tension, every wolf on high alert. Ace exhales slowly, his thoughts sharp as he looks around at the gathered wolves.
Each of them understands the weight of the situation, the risk they all face. But right now, his mind is set on one thing--Adele.
His gaze moves across the group before landing on Kieran. His voice is calm, but firm when he speaks.
"Well, I think we should still summon Blake because I had some other plans going on," Ace states, watching the way Kieran’s expression shifts subtly. Another plan going on?!
Kieran’s eyes flicker with something unreadable, his jaw tightening slightly, but he doesn’t interrupt.
Ace hesitates for a brief second before turning fully to him, realization dawning.
"I know," he says, his voice quieter, almost hesitant. "I’m sorry... I should have told you."
Kieran’s lips part slightly. He wasn’t expecting that. For a moment, his hard exterior cracks, the silent understanding between them deepening.
"It’s fine, ba..." Kieran catches himself mid-word, clearing his throat before continuing, "I mean, it’s totally fine because I know you wouldn’t do anything recklessly."
His fingers twitch as if on instinct, lifting toward Ace’s cheek before he stops himself. They’re outside. People are watching. There are more pressing matters at hand.
Not like anyone around them hasn’t already noticed.
He straightens his posture, his voice shifting back to something more professional. "But what is it that you had in plan?"
"I hadn’t mentioned it to anyone because I did it with the thought of it being a personal grudge," Ace admits, shifting his weight. "But now, thinking about it... it serves all- personal and pack-wise."
Ace glances around, scanning the faces of those present, then spots Jack, standing a few steps away. "Jack, did you get what I sent you?"
Jack doesn’t hesitate. He steps forward, holding a thick stack of papers in one hand and a flash drive in the other.
"Yes, and even more," Jack replies, his tone steady but tinged with something more- anticipation.
Ace takes the documents from him, flipping through the pages as his smirk deepens. His eyes scan over the information, over the pieces of evidence he spent time gathering, the details finally aligning in his mind.
His smirk doesn’t go unnoticed. The wolves exchange glances, curiosity sparking like embers in their eyes.
"Perfect. Thank you," Ace says, his fingers tightening around the papers. He lets his gaze settle on the others before lifting one of the documents slightly.
"So, apparently, I had started investigating Adele Crawford with some other intentions," he begins, his voice smooth, composed, but carrying a dangerous undertone. He starts pacing slightly, holding the documents up for emphasis. "But now, I think I can use this in other ways."
The wolves remain silent, watching him intently. Waiting...
"These documents clearly show that Adele has been conducting secret scientific experiments- on people, on anyone she could get her hands on. She’s been hiding behind the name of research, but this?" He shakes the papers slightly. "This is inhumane. She killed other people in the process, some people just disappeared from their families, and she was responsible."
A low murmur spreads through the gathered wolves. Some shift uncomfortably. Others look enraged.
"If we can get hold of Blake, this entire thing becomes even more believable," he continues, his voice unwavering. "We can present her to the humans and tell them that Adele experimented on her own daughter, and that it went horribly wrong."
The weight of his words settles over the group.
"Those people," Ace presses on, "are not even sure what they’re talking about. They don’t know if we really exist. A lot of them still don’t believe it. But if we present this evidence, the files, the experiments, Blake-- it gives them something real to latch onto. Something more believable than just old historical stories."
A silence follows, heavy with consideration.
Jack steps forward, his brows furrowed. "So, you’re saying... we make them believe Adele was behind everything? That she was running a secret lab, experimenting on humans, and the result was something unnatural- something that made people think of supernatural creatures?"
Ace nods, his smirk still playing at the edge of his lips. "Exactly."
A murmur spreads through the crowd again, some wolves exchanging glances. The idea is solid. Logical. More importantly, it gives them an advantage.
"That would shift their focus," someone murmurs from the back.
Ace meets their gaze, nodding. "It would. Instead of searching for supernatural beings living among them, they’ll be too caught up in this. They’ll focus on Adele. On the lab. On the science behind it."
Kieran watches him carefully, taking in every word, his expression unreadable. Finally, he exhales, shaking his head slightly, though there’s something in his eyes, something close to admiration or rather, proud of his love.
"Clever," he murmurs.
Ace shrugs. "I try."
For a moment, the tension shifts. The wolves seem to digest the idea, the weight of the plan settling into their minds.
It’s not just a simple diversion, it’s an entire narrative, one that could protect them from further suspicion.
One of the elder wolves steps forward, crossing his arms. "And how exactly do you plan on getting Blake? Is Alpha Kieran still summoning her? Will the officers be suspicious how we caught her since they’ve been trying."
Ace meets his gaze head-on. "That’s where we strategize. Yeah, we summon her and think of something else that will sound compelling to them."
Kieran folds his arms, considering. "Well, I don’t need to scream to the whole world to get the message to her. There are more ways to do that, I’ll deal with that without raising any suspicions."
"perfect." Ace flips through the papers again before tucking them under his arm. "But the sooner we act, the better. Every second we wait, they get closer to figuring things out. We have the upper hand right now."
A wolf near the back asks, obviously worried. "And if this doesn’t work? If the humans don’t believe it?"
Ace meets his gaze steadily. "Then we adapt."
The wolves begin nodding.
Kieran clears his throat, drawing everyone’s attention back to him. His posture is firm, his expression unreadable as his sharp eyes flick between Ace and the others.
"Well," he starts, voice low but unwavering, "I had something in my mind too from the moment the police started to get involved."
Ace lifts an eyebrow, intrigued.
Kieran continues, crossing his arms. "I want to go to work there as the head. I thought... if the police are already alarmed because of Blake, then we need a way to keep them occupied. Slow them down. Make sure they don’t connect the dots too quickly." He pauses, then adds, "So, I figured I could drag them behind as we try to settle everything."
A murmur spreads through the wolves.
Ace’s brows furrow slightly. "The head?"
Kieran nods. "In those head offices that operate alongside police and detectives. If I’m there, I can keep a close watch on how they handle this case and control their tracks. If they start getting too close to something they shouldn’t, I’ll steer them in another direction."
Jun whistles lowly. "Holy bananas, you guys are really something. How are you even coming up with these thoughts." He chuckles. "But how are you planning to do that? I mean, you can’t just walk in and take that position, can you?"
Kieran smirks, his confidence unwavering. "It doesn’t matter if I didn’t study for it. I’d still get the job if I wanted it."
No one doubts that.
Kieran isn’t just anyone, he’s an alpha, a natural leader, someone who commands respect even among humans without them realizing why. If he wants something, he takes it.
Ace crosses his arms, tilting his head. "That blends perfectly. I mean, will I even have to explain myself when I find you the office?"
"Actually, you will baby." Kieran says not caring anymore what others would take it.
But surprisingly they laugh, others shamelessly blushing.
Ace scoffs, shaking his head with an amused smirk. "Typical."
"But effective," Kieran counters. "With me in that position, I can make sure the police don’t get any solid leads on Blake nor all of us. If they suspect something unusual, I’ll be there to redirect them. If anyone starts investigating too deep, I’ll know before they get anywhere useful. We can feed them just enough information to keep them occupied, but never the whole truth."
Ace taps his fingers against the stack of papers he’s holding, considering. "That actually works well with my plan."
Kieran smirks. "I know. And I kinda lied when I said I thought about it long ago, I only thought of it after hearing what you are planning to do because I want to make your work easier." He admits.
Ace rolls his eyes but a flash of pink find it’s way to the tip of his ears.
Rey clears his throat deliberately, "Alright, alright." ƒгeewebnovёl.com
Kieran turns away from Ace.
"So what’s the timeline? When do we start?" Rey adds. He knows it- when Kieran is that close to Ace, he might forget he is an alpha.
And Rey can’t let him do that.
Kieran glances at him. "The sooner, the better. I mean, right now."
A new energy spreads through the group. Now, it’s time to set things into motion.
