Some were also planted near the river to prevent mutant animals from attacking the farm when they came to drink water.
Once the wall was built they started constructing the farming area, which was quick, finished in one morning. The farming area didn’t need any decoration, and the cement walls were easy to clean.
The farming area, after airing for a few days, could start housing animals. Following Xue Dong’s instructions, Qin Jianzhong exchanged for five pairs of piglets, twenty pairs of chickens, ducks, and geese, twenty sheep, twenty rabbits, and five pairs each of water buffaloes, yellow cattle, and meat-working cattle.
The livestock were temporarily kept at No. 8 Farm while awaiting relocation.
Once the farming area was ready, they all started working on the land diligently. A few days earlier, Li Pan and others had already weeded, tilled, and watered the ground, planting twenty acres of wheat. Now that the construction was complete, they proceeded to plant it.

Most of the fruits were brought back to the base for testing, and if found safe, they could be sold, though likely at a high price.
They also planned to transport two saplings of the breadfruit tree back to the base, bringing some of their fruits as well.
Each breadfruit had a different flavor, including chocolate, creamy, and fruity, providing the fun of opening a blind box.
After completing the work, everyone took the agreed-upon provisions and returned. They also took back a lot of the farm’s output, medicinal herbs, and various other items, all of which could help revitalize the farm.
No. 7 Farm was also tidied up. The carpenter had finished making and installing the furniture, and it was ready for habitation. Qin Jianzhong and Li Pan began relocating the animals.
The mutant animals that came from the base found their places and started patrolling the farm, already beginning their duties.
