My Tribrid System: More than a Monster
Chapter 328: Controller (2)
Chapter 326
"MOVE!"
Even without the warning from Ray, the group dove to the side with tremendous speed.
The projectiles barely grazed them, crashing into the ground with heavy momentum that shook the earth with tremendous force.
Dust billowed into the air as the teens managed to avoid the ultra-fast projectiles by the skin of their teeth.
They all tumbled and rolled across the ground for a second before springing to their feet instantly.
The creature twisted and turned its head eerily, looking at them from head to toe. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
Seeing that they were okay, the controller reached down.
A bone spear vibrated for a few seconds before shooting into its awaiting grip.
Cocking its hand backward, the controller aimed at them with a calm look.
"Eh... just a single spear?" Ray asked with a raised brow.
"You wanted more?!" Van shouted angrily.
Then,
Bang—!
The spear was launched forward with thunderous force.
It seemed like even the air gave way for the weapon as it smashed into Ray’s chest faster than he could react.
The force of the spear lifted the boy off his feet, his eyes widening from the impact as the spear rotated and twisted violently against his defenses.
[-10HP]
Fortunately for the weapon, the boy’s endurance level was quite high, and instead of piercing through, it sent him flying backward and crashing into the ground.
He tumbled and rolled with a disoriented look on his face, while the others turned back to look at him with shock written all over their countenances.
"Ra—"
Chloe’s words were cut short as a loud bang cracked through the air, forcing them all to look back to see a bone sword flying through the air toward them.
Van’s brain was quick to engineer.
His contraption broke down rapidly, and soon enough, a translucent blue tower shield formed just in the nick of time.
WAM!
The sword crashed into the shield with heavy momentum, slowing down for a fraction of a second.
Just a tiny bit of time passed before the shield shattered like fragile glass, but this gave the teens enough room to jump out of the way, allowing the weapon to plow into the ground.
They rolled for a second before springing back to their feet.
"We can’t let it keep attacking!" Chloe shouted and quickly let her arrows loose.
The projectiles flew toward the guardian, who looked at them with a calm, unbothered expression.
Boosting them with her telekinetic ability, she hoped the arrows would at least do something tangible.
However, pulling his hand upward, a sword flew into the guardian’s grip and snapped into place.
Clang—! Clang—!
He swatted the arrows to the ground almost instantly.
"Let’s go," Kai shouted as he bolted forward with Trisha following beside him.
The boy’s crystal daggers were gripped firmly by his side while Trisha clutched her ice sword with a determined look on her face.
Van quickly began breaking down his contraption and reforming a pair of hand cannons.
There was a slot in the shoulder blade of the device where he quickly slotted a beast core, and then he poised himself immediately.
Kai and Trisha were just a meter away from the guardian, who looked at them with an unperturbed expression.
It was like staring at a group of pests wanting to do something against it.
Before they could take another step, however, two spears shot into the creature’s hands and, unhesitatingly, they were launched toward the duo.
The hovering spear heads and flying shrapnel had barely settled before the counterattack exploded into full gear.
Trisha was quicker on her feet as she immediately contorted her foot around, allowing for her hip to twist, and then her hand shot forward, meeting the spear head-on.
Due to the angle of her feet and hip, she was able to deflect the spear to the side, sending it smashing into the ground.
Kai was also quick enough to create a heavy crystal guard around his hands, which he crossed forward, absorbing the impact from the spear.
The force sent him sliding backward for a few seconds, while Trisha pressed on, wanting to break through the creature’s guard.
She was just a few steps away from the circle of weapons surrounding the creature when the ground rumbled for a second.
Without delay, she immediately vaulted backward as bone spears shot upward from the same space she had just occupied.
A second too late and she would have been impaled.
Kai gritted his teeth and swung his hands to the side, flinging the spear away from him.
He shifted into a stance and pointed his hands forward.
Swiftly, a dozen crystal spikes burst forward.
They all rocketed toward the creature, who stared at them calmly and indifferently pointed its hand downward, causing a bone shield to shoot into its hand, which it quickly placed in front of it.
Bang—! Bang—! Bang—!
The spikes crashed into the shield with full force but were unable to move the creature at all, nor did they break it.
Forget breaking it—Kai’s attacks didn’t even crack the surface.
BANG—!
A bright white beam tore forward and, within a second, collided with the shield, sending a reverberating sound rushing through the air.
The shield shook heavily, so much so that even the guardian slid a single step backward.
Cracks began appearing around the bone, and within a few moments, the shield shattered into a dozen shards.
The guardian had a shocked look on its face—or as close to a look of shock as its bony features could manage—its face scrunching up in annoyance as it looked into the distance to see smoke coming out from Van’s cannon.
’Two mo—’
The guardian’s legs twitched.
Before it could even take a step forward, a clamorous bang was heard and a streak of blue shot forward like lightning.
As the creature tried to advance, a silver-haired boy crossed its circle of weapons and appeared directly in front of it.
And in his hand?
A spinning orb of light, which was poised directly against the creature’s ribcage.
Ray’s face twitched into a wide grin.
