Chapter 1143: Brainwashed

The God’s projection had never been stunned to this extent before. Even Anthony converting his Angels to demons, and converting energy from one form to another while wielding both Chaos and Faith energy, had not left him this shocked.

If this had been another person seated right before him, he would have attacked immediately without hesitation, without pause, without delay, as his secrets were simply too precious to be known by another who was not himself.

But the person seated here was the Demon King, a being on his own level, an existence that could not be underestimated or dismissed lightly. If the body seated here had been the Demon King’s True Body, he might have tried to do something, even if it was only injuring the Demon King’s True Body and reducing his combat power, even if just by a marginal and almost insignificant degree.

But... even if he could achieve such a thing, surely the Demon King had something that worked like a healing potion, or some other unknown method, that could revert his combat strength back to its absolute peak without much effort or consequence.

"How did you know?" the God’s projection asked as he tried to maintain his usual composure and demeanor, his voice controlled, steady, and carefully restrained despite the tension that lingered beneath. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

But the Demon King merely smiled at the display as though mocking it. "What does that have to do with anything?" the Demon King spoke. "It doesn’t matter how I found out, what matters is that the cat is out of the bag... or in this case, the feathers are out of the bag," he mused aloud, his tone laced with a subtle, almost playful amusement.

Of course, the God’s projection had guessed that the Demon King had found out about his plans through sheer intelligence, but he refused to believe it. To him, an ability had to be in play, yet he sensed absolutely nothing, not even the faintest trace of interference or presence.

"So, let’s talk about our plan," the Demon King continued as he held the upper hand in this meeting, his confidence evident, his posture relaxed yet dominant in an almost unsettling manner.

The God’s projection stayed silent for a moment, then spoke. "Speak, I’m all ears," his tone low, measured, and devoid of unnecessary emotion.

The Demon King nodded as he began to speak. "Although your Angels are strong, I don’t know if they will be able to take on everything the Acarnis Galaxy has to offer. Besides, the battle would last month, years, if not centuries. If one side is losing, they would simply flee to a far part of the Galaxy and try to hide, regroup, and delay the inevitable outcome," the Demon King paused briefly his voice like honey, smooth yet deliberate.

"So, instead, my Demons would work with you to reduce the workload on your people. After all, you can’t exactly fight the forces of the Acarnis Galaxy and also fight my Demons at the same time," his words factual, logical, and grounded in practical reasoning.

The God’s projection stayed silent for a moment, then spoke. "What are you going to tell your little Demons then on why they are working with Angels and not just killing them like they are supposed to?" his question logical, as Demons were not mindless puppets that could be manipulated without reason or explanation.

"Well... I will simply tell them I struck a deal and plan to betray you at the end. We Demons are known for being cunning and betrayal after all, which is why almost everyone who strikes a deal with us ends up on the losing side of the bargain," the Demon King’s projection replied with a shrug, as though giving such an explanation required no effort whatsoever.

Besides, if he wanted, he wouldn’t give an explanation; he could simply force his subordinates to do his bidding without hesitation or resistance. But the Demon King was a man who cherished talent, so he would give an explanation to his people... but of course, this explanation was limited to only his strongest Demon Monarchs within the top hundred.

Not some random wannabe Demon.

The God’s projection’s ’eyes’ flickered at the Demon King’s words as though he couldn’t quite believe what he had just heard come out from the Demon King’s mouth, as though the very statement itself carried a weight that was difficult to ignore.

The Demon King had spoken about betraying him as though it was a normal thing. Of course, the Demon King didn’t explicitly state he would betray him, but saying it was just an excuse he would give his Demon subordinates did not sit well with the God’s projection.

After all, everyone knew Demons were manipulators; they were cunning, they were liars, backstabbers... no, ’frontstabbers’, yet people still struck bargains with them despite knowing this. Even the Demons knew this, but none of them would actively open their mouth to say, "I’m known for betraying people," then have a smile on their face.

Only the Demon King could do such a thing.

But from one perspective, it was understandable; the Demon King knew this, the God knew this, so why bother beating around the bush.

The God’s projection was tempted to end the deal right here and now, but he couldn’t, as the Demon King staying out of his way would hasten his plans and make things far easier for him moving forward.

Of course, the Demon King noticed the expression on the God’s projection ’face’, but did he care? Absolutely not.

"So, what will you tell your own people? Although I guess you don’t have to tell them anything since they are all so brainwashed. I’m sure if you tell them to work with the Demons they will simply just nod and accept it as their Divine Decree or something," the Demon King spoke again, he spoke without reservations, doing nothing to put on some pompous air of authority or regal tone, he was simply who he was, nothing more, nothing less, nothing performative.

The God’s projection simply stared at the Demon King’s projection, then spoke. "I will simply tell them that the Demons have decided to repent, and are willing to join us in the war, but due to the timing of their repentance, there is simply no time to convert all of you into holy followers," his tone indifferent and calm.

Hearing the God’s projection’s words, the Demon King nodded as he had already guessed that much. Personally, he looked forward to it, he hadn’t seen a battle of this scale in a very long time... almost since forever, although once in a while one Galaxy-level threat always arose every now and then, but to people like him, they were just boring and insignificant.

But this... this was going to be fun... and his body and intuition could feel it with absolute certainty, as though anticipating the chaos that was yet to unfold.
