The moment Daniel stepped out of the store I turned back to Cat.

"Was that necessary?" I asked, with frost in my eyes.

Cat met my eyes, no remorse could be seen in her eyes at all.

"Was what necessary?" She asked, feigning innocence.

I could only sigh at her antics.

She had always been slightly obsessed with me.

I would even go so far as to say she might’ve even been a bit... possessive.

"Just forget about it." I said. "Daniel is my husband, and I expect you to at least pretend to like him."

"Hmpf! I’ll treat him however he deserves to be treated." Cat said with a pout.

"The thing is Cat, no matter how good he is, you’ll still think he deserves to be treated badly, just because he’s my husband." I said, a headache already starting to form due to this entire conversation.

"I would not." She answered.

She could be so childish sometimes.

I had to force myself to remember that she was actually older than me.

"Fine, if you say so." I said.

"Just know if you ever harm him in any way..." I didn’t even need to finish my sentence, the threatening tone I used converted my thoughts to her efficiently enough after all.

Cat’s eyes widened slightly at this.

Our entire lives, we had been very close, and I had never threatened her before.

But I couldn’t have her threaten the life of the man I loved after all.

"Fine, I won’t harm him."

"But I don’t have to like him." Cat mumbled as she turned away from me, walking through the door at the back of the shop.

I acted like I hadn’t heard the last part she had mumbled.

After all, it’s not like I can force her to like him.

He would just have to win her over with that boundless charm he claims to have.

When I followed her through the door, I found myself standing in the living room of a tiny apartment.

It hadn’t been large by any standards.

If Daniel were there, he would’ve probably had to shuffle around her furniture just to be able to move around.

That doesn’t mean that it was cluttered, or disorganised by any measure.

Cat had never been disorganised in any way.

In fact everything she touched always had to be organised and ordered precisely.

Almost frustratingly so.

I remember her always doing a pass of every room I entered, and organising, or straightening everything I had touched.

This meant that every piece of furniture in that apartment had to stand just so.

Everything was perfectly in line.

The small coffee tables next to the couches stood at precise angles, their edges never sticking past those of the couches.

"Still as organised as ever, I see." I said to her back.

"Of course." Cat said, as she gracefully sat down on the couch.

I went to sit on the couch across from her, but of course the moment I walked in that direction, she grabbed my hand and pulled me into the seat next to her.

"So how have you been, Jules?" She asked, as she clung to my arm, and leaned her head onto my shoulder.

For the second time since walking into that store, I could only sigh.

She might’ve been a bit smaller than me but I knew for a fact that, even if I tried my best, I wouldn’t be able to escape from her grasp.

"I’ve been fine." I answered, begrudgingly settling into the seat. "I’ve actually been enjoying a quiet life in a village not far from here."

"Quiet life?" Cat asked, her head snapping up to meet my gaze.

"Yes, Daniel and I’ve been living in Lofie village." I nodded. "He’s started a couple of businesses there, and I’ve been helping him with work, and training."

"Training, huh?" Cat’s eyes brightened up a bit at that.

I knew that would get her interested, she might’ve looked like a simple shopkeeper, or a gentle ladylike woman.

But she was a complete battle maniac.

She just happened to love the finer things in life just as much.

"So he’s at least somewhat capable?" She asked.

I did everything in my power to control the smile trying to tug at my lips.

If she had only known at that time just how capable he could become.

"You could say that." I answered, the smile finally starting to form on my lips despite myself.

A small frown appeared on Cat’s face.

"What affinity does he have?" She asked.

At first I didn’t want to tell her, or maybe just tell her about one or two of them, but since she was probably going to spend a lot of time with us, it didn’t really make sense to hide it from her.

Daniel might have thought that I didn’t know about his plans to invite her to Lofie village with us, but honestly the man couldn’t hide anything from me.

I had seen through his plans to merge her business with his bathhouse the moment he asked if she would talk to us.

"All of them." I answered honestly.

"What?!" Cat exclaimed, flying out of her seat as she turned to face me fully.

"Really?"

I only nodded as a response.

"Even null-magic?"

Once again I only nodded.

A complicated expression flitted through her red eyes.

I knew exactly what she was thinking.

She didn’t like the idea of him being around me at all, or the idea of mingling with him.

Apart from him being my husband, the mere fact that he was a man already made him distasteful to her.

Cat had some... issues with men in general.

But now that she knew this, she couldn’t help her interest from being peaked.

Like I said, she’s a battle maniac.

But apart from that, she absolutely loves to train people.

And having the opportunity to train someone with access to all magical affinities... that was like placing a buffet in front of her, and asking her to not touch a single thing of it.

"How’s his combat abilities?" she asked.

"He actually managed to land a hit on me." I said, I didn’t need to say anything more after all.

"Well I mean if he can use all of the affinities, that shouldn’t be all that hard." Cat said.

The smile on my face widened at these words.

"I don’t allow magic in our sparring sessions." I said.

The look of surprise on her face had me trying to hold back a fit of giggles.

I actually feared that her brows would get tangled up in her hair if they were lifted any higher.

"He must have been training for a very long time to be that good." Cat said, I could even hear some respect start to show in her voice.

"Actually he only started training a couple of weeks ago." I answered her.

I loved how everything I told her just impressed her more, and more.

Obviously I was proud of my husband.

It was only natural that I would enjoy seeing how his achievements shocked my sister.

"That..."

"He..."

Cat tried to find the right words for a few moments, but she was completely unsuccessful.

I decided maybe I should just tell her some more about my amazing husband.

So I did exactly that.

I told her about him going into the battle state on his very first day of training.

I told her about all of his brilliant ideas for the village, and his businesses.

I told her about my secret plans for him.

I just told her about everything.

When I had finally stopped talking, more than an hour had already passed.

"I should probably get back to the inn." I finally said, getting up from the couch. "I’ll come and see you again tomorrow."

I had only moved a few feet when Cat’s arm circled mine again.

"I’ll walk with you, it’s dangerous to walk alone at this time of night." She said.

"You do know that there probably isn’t anyone in this kingdom, let alone this city, that could threaten me right?" I asked with a rueful smile.

Cat only tightened her arm.

"That may be true, but a little extra security has never hurt anyone."

Since there was nothing I could do about it anyway, I just kept walking.

We strolled through the streets like that until we reached the door of our inn.

We were only a few feet away when the door burst into splinters, and out came flying the figure of a burly man.

Inside the inn I could still hear a massive commotion.

"What the hell is going on?"
