Eternal Life: I Have the Favor System
Chapter 389 - 191: Great Success
The Barbaric Bow, as its name suggests, was a great bow that required Primitive Power to be fully drawn. This was the standard-issue great bow for generals of the Black Armored Army.
Chu Lingguang realized the skeleton on the ground was that of a Black Armored Army general.
Mo Shan’s words were still vivid in his mind.
His Four-Star Linked Pearls archery technique was more than enough to threaten the Iron Wolf Eagles. He had only failed to shoot them down because the great bow he was using was too weak.
’Now there’s a Barbaric Bow right here. If I can draw it, what does it matter if there are four Iron Wolf Eagles in the sky?’
However, to draw the Barbaric Bow, he needed Primitive Power.
"Hand over the Spiritual Monkey, and I guarantee I won’t harm a single hair on your head."
The voice of the man with the black mole came from outside the cave entrance.
"If you’ve got the guts, come in and get it."
Chu Lingguang taunted him.
"You damn brat, doing this the hard way, are you? Fine! You just wait. I’m going to get reinforcements."
The man with the black mole cursed.
The sound of footsteps running away followed.
Chu Lingguang remained unmoved, staying hidden inside the cave and constantly monitoring every movement outside the entrance.
Half an hour passed.
The man with the black mole cursed viciously, "Damn it, you think you can just wait me out?"
He hadn’t gone far, trying to lure Chu Lingguang out, but Chu Lingguang didn’t fall for it.
’It really is a Barbaric Bow.’
Chu Lingguang sat down in a corner of the cave, his Spiritual Sense covering the entrance. If the man with the black mole got close, he would notice it immediately. He had ample time to fire four consecutive arrows before the man could charge in.
He pulled hard on the Barbaric Bow.
The power of his Divine Image combined with his Qi Sea Power was actually enough to fully draw the Barbaric Bow, but it felt awkward. In a rapid-fire situation, there would be a slight hesitation, drastically reducing the power of his arrows.
To draw the bowstring with ease and fire in quick succession without the slightest hesitation, he had to awaken Primitive Power.
’I’ve taken Bone Marrow Cleansing Liquid, so I have a Pure True Body. My body should attune to new powers far faster than anyone else’s. I’ve been trying to unlock my sixth-level Dharma Aspect and awaken Primitive Power, but progress has been disappointingly slow.’
’If I could awaken Primitive Power right now, with this Barbaric Bow in hand, those four Iron Wolf Eagles outside wouldn’t be a threat at all. I could drive back that guy at the entrance with my archery—I might even be able to kill him outright.’
Chu Lingguang muttered to himself.
At this thought, he tried to use his Sea of Consciousness Power and Elixir Field Power to resonate with the world around him, hoping to unlock his sixth-level Dharma Aspect.
When he made no progress,
he then tried to guide the power of his Divine Image to interact with the world, hoping to draw the Power of Heaven and Earth into his body and awaken his Primitive Power.
WHOOSH!
But just then, he sensed several dark figures rapidly approaching the cave.
Chu Lingguang spotted several tree trunks flying in from the cave mouth. The man with the black mole was hiding behind them, rushing rapidly into the cave.
SWISH SWISH SWISH SWISH!
Chu Lingguang fired four arrows in succession. The cave was neither large nor small, and the incoming tree trunks couldn’t possibly harm him. With his Spiritual Sense active, he tracked the black-moled man’s every move the moment he neared the entrance. In the dim cave, he drew his bow and nocked his arrows.
ARGH!
THUD!
The man with the black mole screamed in pain as he was sent flying backward. He seemed to crash into something, and then all went quiet.
Chu Lingguang didn’t act rashly; he simply guarded the entrance without going outside.
Fifteen minutes later.
The man with the black mole pulled an arrowhead from his flesh, leaned against a tree, and cursed viciously, "So you won’t come out, huh? We’ll see how long you can hide."
First, he pretended to retreat, trying to lure Chu Lingguang out, but Chu Lingguang didn’t fall for it.
Next, he tried to force his way in using logs as a shield, only to be driven back by Chu Lingguang’s arrows.
He then pretended to be heavily injured, waiting for Chu Lingguang to come out and finish him off, but Chu Lingguang still didn’t fall for it.
The thought of his own high standing in the tribe, contrasted with his inability to handle some young brat—and even getting injured by him—made him so furious that the tuft of white hair on his mole seemed to stand on end.
RUSTLE RUSTLE!
A moment later, there was more movement outside the cave entrance.
Chu Lingguang noticed that a pile of dry branches and weeds had been thrown near the cave entrance. From the looks of it, the man with the black mole was planning to smoke him out.
Chu Lingguang had already inspected the cave.
The cave was shaped like a figure eight, less than three meters wide at its narrowest point and over ten meters at its widest.
The only source of ventilation was the main entrance.
If the man lit a fire to smoke him out, Chu Lingguang knew he wouldn’t be able to last long.
Both his Turtle Breath Technique and the Zhenyuan Technique allowed Chu Lingguang to hold his breath. He could stay underwater for extended periods and could even navigate a miasma-filled forest without breathing to avoid being poisoned, but there was always a time limit.
Once the smoke inside the cave grew thick enough, Chu Lingguang knew his current power level wouldn’t be enough to hold out for long.
FWOOSH!
At that moment, the man with the black mole threw a torch from the side, igniting the weeds and branches outside the entrance.
EEK!
The Spiritual Monkey, trapped in the net, heard the crackling sound of the flames and shrieked nonstop in fear.
Chu Lingguang backed deeper into the cave, keeping his eyes on the entrance. He kept his Spiritual Sense focused on the opening, ready in case the man with the black mole tried to charge in under the cover of smoke.
"Not coming out, are you? I’ll smoke you to death!"
"Let’s see how long you can last."
The man with the black mole tossed piece after piece of firewood and branches onto the fire at the cave mouth. The flames leaped high, igniting the surrounding weeds and fallen leaves.
Thick smoke began to pour into the cave.
EEK!
The Spiritual Monkey choked on the smoke and became extremely agitated.
WHINNY!
CLIP-CLOP!
The Little Red Horse also grew agitated, pacing back and forth inside the cave.
