Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Leo Shows His Hand

Kevin watched George and Strange acting all cocky, and the corner of his mouth twitched into a faint smile. "You’re celebrating way too early just because you took down a few Fish Fiends."

He spread his hands out and walked straight toward them.

Suddenly, two arms grabbed Kevin’s shirt from both sides. Monchhichi’s voice trembled as she warned him, "They’re outnumbering you. Don’t go up there alone."

Celula, standing next to her, nodded too. "We still have bullets in our guns."

After that, the two girls flanked Kevin on his left and right. They had already pulled back the slides on their Glock 19s.

George and the special forces soldiers behind him all smirked mockingly.

George lifted his chin and sneered, "Kevin, cut the bluffing. If you know what’s good for you, you’ll bring Leo and Stephanie to me safely right now. Then hand over all the gear, potions, and Eldritch Artifacts you got. You’ll also have to bow and apologize to Leo. After that, Leo might just let you keep your life."

He looked up at Celula and Monchhichi behind Kevin and added, "And you two bitches. When Leo gets here, you better serve him well. Only if Leo is satisfied will your lives be spared."

Strange stood to the side, listening to George’s arrogance, but didn’t say a word in protest.

Compared to Celula and Monchhichi, the twin sisters, Strange’s main mission was to escort Nova to that lord’s ship.

Now, with most of his men brutally killed by Kevin and the two girls, Strange had to swallow his pride and keep quiet.

But George had no plans to let him off the hook.

He walked over to Strange and slapped his shoulder hard. "Strange, my friend. Since I just saved your life, I’m taking your ship now. I’m sure you and your crew have no issue with that."

Without waiting for a response, George ignored Strange and led his special forces team to march Kevin and the two girls straight toward Strange’s sailboat.

Strange couldn’t refuse. But he was worried George would target Nova next, so he rushed to the front and said coldly, "George, even though you saved me, if you’re boarding my ship, let the owner lead the way."

With that, Strange led the way and quickly climbed aboard his own ship.

Kevin was surrounded by eight special forces soldiers in the middle. Celula and Monchhichi followed him carefully, their faces full of alertness and worry.

Suddenly, a bell sound rang in Kevin’s ears, and a system panel appeared in front of him. Celula quietly sent him a private message: "Kevin, you’re too careless. How could you come here alone to rescue us?"

Kevin saw the message and turned his head to glance over.

Right now, Celula was looking down with her lips pouted, giving off a really cute vibe that made Kevin laugh out loud.

[Name: Celula]

[Age: 19]

[Class: Student]

[Affection: 55]

[Purity: Body 100, Mind 100]

Kevin noticed that Celula actually had a 55 Affection stat showing above her head, which surprised him a lot.

He never expected that the little girl, who hadn’t said a single nice thing about him along the way, actually had such a high Affection score for him in her heart.

Strictly speaking, they had barely met for ten minutes.

To have a girl’s Affection for him reach 55 in such a short time was something Kevin also found pretty surprising.

So, almost instinctively, he glanced over at Monchhichi standing nearby.

[Name: Monchhichi]

[Age: 19]

[Class: Student]

[Affection: 25]

[Purity: Body 100, Mind 100]

Seeing the 25 Affection stat floating above her head, Kevin’s eyebrows twitched.

Monchhichi had always been polite, respectful, and obedient to him from start to finish, never once speaking out of line.

Kevin could even pick up on a deep sense of respect in how she acted and spoke.

He had thought her Affection for him would be far higher than Celula’s, only to find it was just 25.

It seemed these twins really had completely opposite personalities.

Celula talked without thinking and said whatever came to mind, but her heart was pure.

Monchhichi, on the other hand, acted polite and well-mannered on the surface, but might actually be highly guarded against everyone inside.

The respect she showed was probably just a facade she put on after carefully thinking it through.

Once he figured this out, Kevin flashed a grin.

How interesting.

He didn’t reply to Celula’s message. Instead, he spoke up clearly and said, "This ship is sinking fast. Once we get over to the other boat, I’ll handle them for you. I promise you’ll get your revenge."

Hearing that, Monchhichi looked up curiously. "Captain Kevin, I admit you’re incredibly strong. Your abilities are the strongest of any Survivor I’ve ever seen. But those armed helicopters in the sky aren’t something we can fight against."

Celula nodded along. "Exactly. Stop boasting. You might be strong, but can you shoot down a helicopter while tanking two Vulcan cannons?"

At that, Kevin just shrugged. "Why would I shoot it down? I can’t bear to wreck it."

This answer made both Celula and Monchhichi roll their eyes.

In their eyes, he was basically admitting he was powerless, just making excuses to save face with a different wording.

Thinking that, both girls looked down and stayed silent.

The three of them walked toward the stern like that. The special forces soldiers escorting them had heard the whole conversation.

A middle-aged special forces soldier sneered, "Keep dreaming. Even if you were Superman, you couldn’t take down our armed helis while tanking two Vulcan cannons. Out here at sea, our helis are the ultimate weapon, way stronger than your so-called C-Tier gear and weapons."

The other two soldiers nodded along, and one of them stared at Kevin and mocked, "Weren’t you acting so cocky earlier? Thinking you’re tough because you have a superpower, you dare to disrespect us pro soldiers. Wait a minute, I’m going to show you what my fists can do."

The soldiers cursed along, but Kevin didn’t care at all.

It wasn’t until he stepped onto the bow of Strange’s ship that Kevin looked up at the armed helicopters in mid-air and said with a smile, "Celula, Monchhichi, you two really gave me a big surprise."

After that, Kevin walked straight to the center of the deck.

At that moment, George had already gotten in touch with Leo.

Using the signal amplifier Leo had left on Kevin’s ship, George had instantly locked onto the coordinates of Kevin’s two-masted sailboat.

Upon hearing that the sailboat was only two nautical miles away, George immediately looked at Kevin and snorted, "If you don’t want to die, sail your boat over here."

With that, George waved toward the distance. A flare shot straight into the night sky.

Suddenly, a loud engine roar echoed through the air.

A single-masted sailboat quickly appeared on the horizon.

On its deck, an armored car with a cannon sat at the stern.

Its engine had been modified into a propeller, churning the water rapidly for extra thrust.

As the boat drew closer, the cannon instantly locked onto Kevin.

Kevin stared at the dark barrel in front of him, his eyes lighting up. "You’ve got an armored car? No wonder Leo dared to send you after me."

George snorted coldly. "Cut the talk. If you don’t want to be riddled with bullets, you’d better bring Leo and Stephanie to me within half an hour."

Kevin shrugged and waved his hand toward his back.

Soon, a two-masted sailboat came into view.

Meanwhile, at Kevin’s command, Luna and Amelia forced Leo and Stephanie to the bow.

As soon as the three ships docked together, George immediately sent his special forces to bring Leo and Stephanie over to him.

But Leo was already covered in bruises and his face was swollen.

The once charming young master now looked as terrifying as an Eldritch Entity.

Seeing his master in such a miserable state, George felt a burst of rage.

He glared at Kevin, his voice ice-cold. "Kevin, you and your crew deserve to die."

With that, George raised his hand.

Every gun barrel and cannon from the soldiers, the helis, and the armored car focused on Kevin.

But before anyone could fire, Leo spoke up first. "Stop."

The moment he finished speaking, Leo stumbled forward a step.

His eyes full of vengeful madness, he said, "Kevin, didn’t expect this, did you? Look at you now."

Kevin smiled at his words. "I really didn’t expect such a huge surprise from you. I thought you’d just bring some ragtag bunch."

Looking at the helicopter and then the armored car, he gave a wry smile. "But you really outdid yourself bringing me two such big gifts. Honestly, I’m almost feeling bad about killing you now."

Leo froze for a second, then threw his head back and laughed wildly. "Kill me? What right do you have to kill me now? Do you really think your little superpower means anything against this much firepower?"

Turning to the soldiers around him, he added, "Don’t be afraid. He only has three main abilities."

"First, he can drink a special potion to freeze a target for a short time. You just need to avoid looking directly at him."

"Second, he can summon a long spear. It’s just a melee weapon. It might work on Eldritch Entities, but it’s nothing compared to cannons and guns."

"Third, the bullets in his pistol. They’re all enchanted. One bullet hits as hard as a grenade. That’s the only thing to watch out for. But we’re a whole group, and he’s just one guy. Even if he trades one life for one of ours, he still can’t beat us."
